What to expect on your fishing trip: welcome aboard and be ready to have a great time! Everyone is treated like friends. I provide a full guided serivce baiting hooks, removing your catch from the hook and passing out waters or drinks. Bottles of water and Ice is included in your trip. You are welcomed to bring any additional beverages. No glass bottles are allowed, but you are welcome to bring snacks. One last thing, be ready to have many laughs, tell stories and catch lots of fish!

Start times in the morning may vary depending on the conditions and if the bite is early or later in the morning. Locations also may vary depending on your target species and where you are located. If I don’t have another trip afterwards or there’s enough daylight and you would like to stay out longer it’s $75 for the additional hour.

Fishing techniques vary on the species of fish you are after. My boat is equipped with up to date marine electronics, spinning and casting rods, hard and soft baits. Depending on your level of fishing experience if you desire, we can use an assortment of artificial baits. Otherwise we will be using live bait. There’s an additional fee for live bait. The amount may vary depending on the bite, amount of people and how long you will be fishing.

I look forward to being your fishing guide and provide the most memorable experience for your friends and family!

Certified Damn Good Guide
Independent Guide
I grew up fishing in South Florida, and my passion for the water motivated me to work in the marine industry where I was able to get my Captain’s License. I purchased my boat from a friend and he introduced me to fishing tournaments. I started guiding part-time with him and learned to guide in many locations in South Florida. Little by little I upgraded the boat from bow to stern, wireless trolling motor, new dashes, a chart plotter, new 250 Yamaha SHO in 2020, twin blade power poles, new foam floor deck, custom redone seats, and boat wrap. My boat does not look its age with all the added custom work I have done.

While working at the boat yard I became friends with one of the boat captains that had a nonprofit organization called Freedom Fighter Outdoors. I dedicated my boat to the organization and was organizing bass tournaments for them and taking veterans out once or twice a month fishing.

Unfortunately, the pandemic hit and made a big impact on the organization that haven’t been able to recover. To this day I continue to support the organization and have hopes of it getting back on its feet.

Since I purchased my boat I have been in a few bass clubs fishing club tournaments every month. At that time, as a new tournament angler, I had a lot to learn and not so many people wanted to give advice. So I learned a lot from only a few friends and my own experiences. The more time I put into it the better I got and eventually had a few wins overall, big fish, and top five. To this day I continue to fish tournaments and work hard at bettering myself every time.

With the experience I had guiding, I took a lot of enjoyment in teaching people how to fish and showing them new techniques I’ve learned. I also learned from clients who fish in other states. After a while, I decided to go into guiding full-time and pursue my dream career.

When you book a trip with me expect to be welcomed on my boat and to be treated as a friend I’ve known forever. You will embark on a nice smooth boat ride and fully guided fishing trip from baiting hooks, removing your catch, and handing out bottles of water or drinks. You will also be educated on the wildlife and waterways we have here in South Florida.

I look forward to you allowing me to be your fishing guide!

He was very knowledgeable about where to go fishing and when we followed his suggestions, we caught fish. He was really laid-back and cool. And he was quick to help net the fish and bait the hook. We got our target species as well as more. I would 100% recommend Jose for anyone who wants to go fishing.

BEST trip! Amazing captain that guided us on the best time of day based on weather. Also went above and beyond bringing us to best location for iguanas based on water levels. We found a lot of iguanas, and the captain helped us with learning how to best hunt-as it’s not as easy as it looks! So much fun! Book captain Jose!

Did that prevent Jose from putting us onto fish? No. Not at all, we were catching fish all day. He was patient and organized as well as friendly and instructive.

Yep, we caught 6 fish I believe. Two or three very small largemouth, a small tarpon, a small snook and a clown knife fish. One
tarpon got off. None of these were the target species that was advertised. The clown knife fish may be a rare catch, not sure. I understand completely that you can’t make the fish bite, been fishing my whole life. But we tried one singular tactic and any advice that was given had to be asked for. I assure you I am not bitter and banter between two friends of 25 years is just that.

You were on your phone a lot. Two of the calls that you took were to address a family matter. That I understand completely and would never keep you from. But the long phone call from a buddy and whatever else was keeping you on it all day I don’t feel was warranted. I do not use my phone at work or in meetings I would expect the same from anyone else.

I held on to hope for the hunt as that is primarily what I booked the trip for and what my buddy was most excited to do. This was my second iguana hunt, I did one back in 2021 with two of my kids. This one was not even comparable to my previous hunt. On my first trip me and my two kids shot well over 250 pellets. Our guide couldn’t fill the magazines fast enough. We shot 28 iguanas even though my kids missed, ALOT. He tried so many spots I lost track of where we were at as I got turned around in all the canals. You had mentioned you were restricted to one singular canal and that you had been asked to do so by law enforcement. I can’t speak to that, only to my previous experience and they were vastly different. I know there are still a ton of iguanas here. I see them everywhere we go when we are down here. We rode up and down the same canal for 3 hours chasing the same lizards that we scared off on our first run. There was not 20 in the tree you mentioned and the few that were in there were running as soon as you turned the boat around. If that’s the same canal you always run I would assume you have shot them up pretty good by now. We killed three of the four lizards we had shots at and hit all four, one got away as I was trying to pull it out of the rocks. So it wasn’t our shooting.

This is the fourth chartered trip I have taken in the state of Florida and the first one I have been disappointed in. Despite my disappointment we still tipped you. I left what I believe to be an honest review as this trip was almost 900 dollars after fees and tip and did not live up to the price tag or my expectations. I’m sorry you feel this way but I stand behind my review.

I brought it down to a one star after the way you reacted to my review, calling me and texting me. Any amount of professionalism I felt you may have had was lost.

As I mentioned before the trip, both fishing and iguana hunting in these canals can vary quite a bit day-to-day, but I understand that from your perspective it didn't live up to what you were hoping for. I also hear your feedback about my phone use and communication during the trip. Just found out late the night before my Uncle was going into emergency open heart surgery. Had to make that short call to my Aunt. As for my buddy calling. I had to take his call he was changing out complete AC system for my mom’s house and had to keep me updated on things. My mom and 83yr old grandmother was without AC for four days and the house was 86 degrees. That's on me, and I'll be more mindful of staying fully present with clients moving forward. My goal is always to provide a professional, hard-working experience regardless of conditions, and I regret that I fell short for you this time. I’m glad you both enjoyed the cigars I gave you at the beginning of the trip. I do appreciate you giving me the opportunity and for acknowledging the effort that went into the day. But, we did catch many other fish including Oscar's, 2 different cichlids, largemouth, and gar. So, this part of the trip was pretty good, no complaints at all. The iguana hunting not so much. Jose didn't want to go anywhere where the iguanas were (residential), even though it was legal. We just stayed in the main canal even though it was obvious there were very few iguana. Between 3 of us, we only shot 2, and they weren't big enough to clean. The last hunt we went on, we easily shot 30. To be fair, we did have a few opportunities, but not many. Nothing like other trips with other outfitters. After getting shot for several years now, the main canals just don't have many iguana left. I guess the thing that was most disappointing is that we didn't stay out anywhere near the 8 hours that we paid for. For the fishing, the boat left the pier at 9 and were headed back by 1130 and for the iguana hunting, we're in the boat and hunting at 130 and was completely off the water at 330. While Jose was pleasant and personable enough, it might be time to find some new hunting spots and stay out as long as the trips states.

Hi Billy, thanks for taking the time to write a review. However I do like to address that you did in fact had a full day trip. As I previously informed you way before our trip that the time in between the two locations from fishing to hunting is part of your trip time. All guides operate the same by the way when they do combos.
So beginning from start to end, I texted you
at 7:26am what your eta was. You replied 8:17, I put the boat at 8:15 and you met me at the ramp as I was getting in my boat. Took me five minutes to bock the boat and park my truck. We left the dock about 8:25 give or take a minute or two. We had a great fishing trip loaded up my live well full of fish for you and your friends to take him. Prior to the trip I explained to you that the peacock bass bite had shut off due to our cold weather. No one as of today has caught more than six peacocks. Nothing anyone can do about that and that’s how fishing is sometimes. So 11:30 comes we run out of bait I gave you the option of fishing with artificial baits or go back and start our hunt. As a your group decided to go hunting, we got back at the dock about 11:55 before you got off my boat I texted you the location to where we will be hunting and that was at 11:57am. I told you I will be about an hour or so and that you guys will have time to grab something to eat and meet me there.
I arrived at the second location about ten past 1pm, you guys got there about five minutes before me. We started our hunt first Iguana didn’t have enough time to shoot at but the few after that I can’t help that you guys couldn’t see it or shoot accurately enough to take them out. I explained it not an easy hunt and as you know from your previous hunt. I also explained that they’re nesting at the moment and are hiding in their holes as you saw for yourself many times. They come out and hang around their hole then go back in. The residential area you mentioned I was asked by two police officers to stay in the main canal. It’s not a lot to ask of and I do in fact get at times more iguanas in the main canal than the residential canals. I am not going to risk having issues with my local law enforcement over shooting Iguanas. As for the other outfitter I did trips for them too. And the guide you speak of he’s the only one that goes there and doesn’t care about having conflict. Everyone else stays out of it.
I take a lot of pride in what I do and always go above and beyond for all my clients. You did receive the time you paid for and I delivered for you. I had apologized to you and your group at the end for only having two Iguanas in the boat. But I did put you on a good bit of them, I can’t help that the few you guys couldn’t see and the few that was missed didn’t make it in the boat. And we ended our hunt about 4:15pm because you Venmo me at 4:23 after we took pictures.
Sorry you felt this way and wish it was brought to my attention the day of. I was under the impression that you were over all happy with your trip with me.
Hope you can give me another chance in the future.
Until then tight lines my friend.

Hi Tony, thank you for your review. As I previously apologized for my tiredness. I had work the Christmas boat parade the night before and got home at 3am. As per me being on my phone quite a bit, I recently lost a family member and I had to handle his business affairs. I understand that is no excuse and you should have had my full attention. With that I am very sorry, I hope...

First Time Booking with Us?

Captain Experiences is home to thousands of quality, vetted fishing, hunting, and other outdoor sports guides across the US and beyond. Our mission is to Unlock the Outdoors by making it quick and easy to book the trip of a lifetime every time with our Damn Good Guides.
We vet our guides and only partner with the best of the best. Our guides do their very best to keep you safe, show you a great time, and send you home with a memorable experience shared with family and friends.
Once you've paid your deposit at checkout, we'll send you a QR Code boarding pass. Just show your guide your boarding pass on the day of the trip, they'll scan it, the remaining balance will transfer automatically, and you'll be all set to get out there. Just make sure you bring a cash tip for the guide!
In the event of inclement weather, our guides will check the conditions and make the final call on whether its safe to go on the trip. If they decide the trip needs to be postponed, we'll work closely with you to reschedule or provide a credit for the full deposit, which can be applied to any of our trips in the US and beyond.
Each trip's price is determined by the guide and reflects all associated costs. A significant factor in pricing is often the type of boat and the corresponding fuel expenses. Additional costs may include leases, marina or slip fees, and the expenses involved in providing and maintaining the necessary gear for your trip.
After booking your trip, we'll connect you directly with your guide to discuss additional details. In the meantime, our team is here to answer any questions via email, text, or phone.
