About Your Trip

The waters stretching from the Upper Laguna Madre down toward the southern end of Baffin Bay hold some of the most consistent inshore fishing on the Texas coast, and Byron knows exactly how to work them through the course of a morning. This six-hour trip out of Corpus Christi follows the bite as it shifts, starting with speckled trout early and transitioning to redfish and black drum as conditions change.

Byron fishes live bait, working croaker, shrimp, or menhaden depending on what's available and what the fish want that day. The morning typically starts with trout, targeted first thing when conditions are right and fish are most actively feeding in the areas Byron has found productive over time. As the trout bite slows through mid-morning, the approach shifts to soaking baits on sandy bottom in search of redfish and black drum, two species that hold well in this transition zone between the Laguna Madre and Baffin Bay.

Baffin Bay's southern reaches are known among Texas anglers for their unique rock structure and consistently good water quality, conditions that support a strong population of trout, redfish, and drum throughout the season. Byron's approach of starting with trout and pivoting to drum and redfish as the day progresses reflects real, on-the-water experience with how this fishery behaves hour to hour.

The 23-foot Haynie bay boat is well suited for working this stretch of coastline, shallow enough to access skinny water while stable enough for a comfortable six hours on the bay. There is no onboard bathroom, so plan accordingly, and dress appropriately for the day's weather conditions since you'll be exposed to the elements throughout the trip.

All rods, reels, and tackle are included, but we also recommend bringing sunglasses, sunscreen, weather-appropriate clothing, and any gear of your own you want to use on the trip.

You'll need to buy a fishing license before getting out there. Find out more about licenses here.

We use a cashless autopay system. We'll send you a boarding pass, and on the day of the trip, your guide will scan your boarding pass to automatically transfer the remaining balance. The only cash needed is to tip your guide (we recommend 20%).

Cancel for free up to 3 days before the trip and receive credit back to your account. Cancelling within 3 of the trip will forfeit your deposit to the guide. Day-of cancellations and no-shows will be charged the full balance of the trip to their card.

In the event of inclement weather you'll be covered by out 100% Weather Guarantee and will not lose your deposit.
