Over the past few weeks, the freshwater action along the shorelines of our local lakes and ponds in Broward County has been absolutely heating up, and we’re starting to see some real giants show up. We’ve managed to land about a half dozen beautiful peacock bass in the 4-to-6-pound range, along with a few thick, hard-striking bullseye snakeheads that put up an incredible fight.

Another enjoyable day on South Florida's freshwater waterways targeting the colorful and hard-fighting peacock bass!
We finished the outing with 13 peacock bass, including a beautiful 4-pounder. Several larger fish also made appearances, providing some exciting encounters and a few memorable missed opportunities.
Fishing was a little challenging at times, but the peacocks provided plenty of excitement when they decided to cooperate.

Our offshore trips have been producing: 🐬 Dolphin fish (mahi-mahi), 🎣 Blackfin tuna, 💥 Atlantic bonito, ⚡ Wahoo
Closer to shore, we’ve been finding plenty of action around the artificial reefs, catching: King mackerel, Bonito
We’ve also been heading into deeper waters in search of amberjacks, adding even more excitement to our trips.
And that’s not all! We’ve had occasional catches of barracudas and sharks keeping things interesting along the way.

We did the cast and blast trip and were able to check a couple things off the list. One of the guys in our group was really wanting to catch a snakehead and got it done, and I was able to knock a peacock bass off my bucket list as well. We also got some good iguanas during the hunting portion of the trip. The equipment provided was top notch, especially the guns, and everything was handled with a strong focus on safety. For someone new to this type of trip, there’s definitely an opportunity to experience a little bit of everything.
