The blacks drum bite remains solid at the jetty's and the ocean is coming to life with bluefish. Atlantic bonito and Spanish mackerel are going to be right behind the blues, with some already showing up on our nearshore reefs.

This past week we had some spectacular two-hour trips with the younger crowd. Lots of action with some good whiting catches which is great for the dinner table. Had quite a few in the fourteen-to-sixteen-inch range. The backwater trips produced some nice redfish and speckled trout. Most were caught using a live shrimp under a cork. The redfish were in the one-to-four-foot range with the trout being caught anywhere from four feet to 10 feet. There are still the big black drum around with bull redfish being caught at the jetties, when it's not rough.

This fishing was good in the Indian and Banana River lagoons around Melbourne, FL for the first half of spring break. We caught just about everything except Tarpon and Snook, which were seeing the effects of spring break and Easter traffic. We had good Redfishing, Black Drum, Seatrout, Mangrove Snappers, and even some smaller Snook though. A week of rain and slowed fishing pressure should light the fishing up in Late April and early May!

Redfish bite has been great along with a good amount of sheepshead. As spring comes the Spanish mackerel, bluefish, and sea trout bite will pick up.

Here on the Crystal Coast spring has sprung in the ocean. The Bonita are finally arriving along the beaches and we will chase these sushi grade speedsters casting metal, trolling spoons, and live baiting. The Chopper Bluefish are on the shoals and smashing topwater. And some jumbo False Albacore up to 25lbs are in the mix. Seabass fishing is solid in 80 to 100ft and the vermillion snapper, triggerfish are joining them. Great time of the year and it will only get better in the coming weeks as cobia and Spanish Mackerel arrive.

This was a fantastic trip! We left early and were out for 12 hours and we had a blast! We caught Tile, Golden Tile and Sea Bass. The 1st Mate also helped us clean the fish. I highly recommend this Captain if you are looking to have fun.

Captain Branden was amazing! Our 14-year-old and his best friend went fishing with him, and both caught Mahi. After catching it, Brandon cooked it up for lunch. They said it was the "best fishing trip" they had ever been on (and they have done a lot). Will definitely book with him again. A great day!
