March madness is in full effect and the fish are happy as can be! When the warm weather rolls in, the fish cooperate with plenty of opportunities to catch tarpon, bonefish, permit, redfish and snook.

March is the true transition from winter into spring, and with it our fishery begins to come alive. What makes this time of year so special is the sheer range of species you can encounter. March is the true transition from winter into spring, and with it our fishery begins to come alive. What makes this time of year so special is the sheer range of species you can encounter. As water temperatures rise, opportunities expand both inshore and offshore, and the next few weeks are when things really start to happen.
Our inshore fishery will change dramatically by the end of this week. With a steady warming trend, we’ll shift from shrimp to live pilchards, opening the door to some of the best backcountry fishing of the year. Snook, Redfish, and juvenile Tarpon become
increasingly active as they push back into the shallows after winter, making for exciting, visual fishing in calm conditions.
Offshore has already been stellar and is only getting better. Hundreds of permits have shown up early this season, along with plenty of barracudas and amberjacks to pull on. We’ve been feeding the AJs flies and artificials, creating some epic topwater eats. Cobia should begin to show soon, another strong kingfish run is upon us, and the snapper bite has been phenomenal. This time of year, we can chum them up near the surface—a bonus when we’re already surrounded by action, and they make for incredible table fare.
As we move into April, all eyes turn toward the arrival of the silver king. Tarpon and Permit will be our primary targets throughout the spring and into early summer.
March is already nearly full and April isn’t far behind. We’re looking forward to an epic spring with our clients—feel free to reach out with any questions about upcoming trips.
Happy fishing

We had a fabulous day’s fishing with Chris - he is knowledgeable, engaging and surpassed the expectations of our group. The boat was great, he has fantastic experience and was patient in teaching us different techniques. A captains captain!!

Great trip with Andy last week. Great guy, full of fishing information about the area. We caught multiple snapper with some to take home and eat. Fish always tastes better when you catch it!

My dad and I were able to squeeze in on a charter with Captain Eric fairly last minute which was awesome! He got us both on some sea trout first thing in the morning, lined us up on some tarpon but before I was able to take any shots on the fly rod, we spooked a tarpon and in came the bull sharks. We buzzed over to a different flat where I had shots at both snook and redfish. I didn’t end up making any of my shots with the fly rod but this was also my first saltwater fly fishing experience as well as my first guided trip so it was all pretty new to me. I’m just stoked we were able to get out in the first place. But I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Captain Eric and I certainly wouldn’t turn down another opportunity to have him guide us! He’s quiet but very focused and knowledgeable about the marine life and was able to give me casting tips as well with the fly rods. Thank you again for squeezing us in Eric!

Capt. Ron was a true professional. He called me the morning of our departure to ensure we were still interested in the fishing trip since the weather was not fantastic (high winds). He provided details about the length of time to travel to/from the fishing spot and conditions while fishing. When we arrived (earlier than scheduled departure time) he was ready and willing to get started early. He put us on the fish and showed us how to cast and catch. We caught so may fish we could not take time to take pictures (except the few attached). It was an awesome experience and hope to book with Ron next time we are in Islamorada. 10 thumbs up!!
