These beasts were landed just after hurricane Ian ran through. We headed out early on the day after land fall. Pilchards had moved into the creaks by the thousands making for easy bait opportunities. Epic Start to 2025 Deep-Sea Fishing in Fort Lauderdale! What a wild start to 2025! Our bottom fishing on January 1st was nothing short of incredible. We pulled up some XL Vermilion Snappers—by far the biggest I’ve ever seen—along with a steady bite of groupers, which is rare off Fort Lauderdale. I’ve never seen the grouper bite so strong around here! The only downside? They went out of season at midnight on December 31st.
