Fishing reports straight from our guides in Hitchcock
Well to keep with the current trend, we had a strong cold front arrive, bringing strong North winds, and dipping water temperatures into the upper 40’s. By Saturday, the wind had switched back out of the East and as the day progressed, moved out of the South at 10 to 15mph. The morning air temperature started out at 41 degrees and was in the low 60’s around lunch time. The water was heavily stained in East Bay, and the wind did help keep the mosquito activity down a little less than what we have been encountering lately, but still need...
If the current trend continues, about 2 to 3 days after the front passes, the fishing normally peaks, so hit me up if you want to get on the water and do some fishing.

The weather is a big factor the last few weeks, to windy, to much run off from rain. Now the tornado and high winds slow fishing down. I did go one day for redfish in the back water using live bait. Best bet is to fish the North Galveston Jetties fishing by the boat cut using live bait. This time of the year is always slow. But it is time to book for Spring Break. Fishing has been great. We've been using love shrimp, soft plastics and corky's. We've been focusing on drains and edges of flats adjacent to deeper water.

Lots of bullreds right now. The inshore fishing has been good as well. Doing some bay fishing trips catching trout, sheepshead, tarpon, drum, flounder and slot reds.

Water temperature 51 degrees catching fish in 8 feet using live shrimp. Overall fishing is heating up. Lots of big sheep heads on the Galveston North Jetties. Be careful and have a Happy New Year's
