Inks Lake is at a normal level with stained water and temperatures around 79°. The fishing has been excellent lately, with some of the best action coming from schools of quality bass feeding heavily on large gizzard shad around offshore rock.
Big topwater baits and large swimbaits have been producing well when targeting these feeding schools. Finding areas holding good concentrations of gizzard shad has been the key to locating active bass, and once the right group of fish is found, anglers have opportunities to catch multiple quality fish from a relatively small area.

Blue and channel catfish may be chummed to areas in the 20-30 foot range with cattle cubes and/or soured grain and fished successfully with Whisker Seeker Tackle cheese punchbait on #6 treble hooks. Sunfish are abundant in longer, shallower coves with wood, rock, and vegetative cover. Use worm on #14 long-shank hooks under sensitive slipfloats to catch bluegills, longears, redears, and green sunfish. Sunfishing is very kid-friendly right now.
STILLHOUSE HOLLOW RESERVOIR - Surface temperature 86.6F. Elevation 1.04 feet low and falling. White bass fishing is most consistent in the three hours following sunrise. Work MAL Bridge lures vertically using a "smoking" tactic with spinning gear allowing bait to fall all the way to bottom, removing slack, then cranking the lure at a moderate cadence

Weightless soft plastic jerkbaits have been producing the most consistent results when targeting these suspended fish, while drop-shot rigged finesse worms continue to catch bass around submerged vegetation. The key has been staying mobile and covering water until active fish are located, as the schools are constantly on the move. Overall, the fishing has been good, with plenty of opportunities for anglers who can stay with the bait.

Bass are beginning to settle into summer patterns and are increasingly grouping into schools around submerged vegetation in 5–15 feet of water. Neko-rigged creature baits have been producing the most reliable action, while topwater stick baits have been a great option for targeting active fish feeding higher in the water column. Anglers who spend time covering water and locating productive stretches of vegetation are finding the best success, with opportunities to catch multiple fish once an active group is located.

Randy was great! The weather made for a tough day, but Randy managed to put us on some fish, so the weather didn't totally ruin the trip. We'll be scheduling another trip with Randy in the near future!
Great Capt. Tough conditions the day we went out but Aaron was great conversation and put us on some fish. When things were slow even invited my son to dive into the lake and cool off with him with a quick swim. All around great captain very knowledgeable friendly and skilled. Would definitely book Aaron again next time we’re in town.
Awesome fishing charter! We had a great time from start to finish. Aaron was knowledgeable, friendly, and knew exactly where to put us on the bass. We caught plenty of fish and had a blast doing it. Everything was well organized, the equipment was great, and the whole trip felt relaxed and enjoyable. We put at least 15-20 fish in the boat within 4 hours.
Whether you’re an experienced fisherman or just looking for a fun day on the water, I’d highly recommend this charter. I’ll definitely be booking another trip next time we’re in the area!
Had an amazing trip with Ray! He taught me how to be a better caster and to refine my bad habits. Caught several fish and two quality large mouths. I would recommend him to anyone who enjoys a day on the water.
Aaron was an outstanding guide. He’s incredibly knowledgeable, patient, professional, and genuinely invested in making sure you have a great day on the water. My cousin and I caught a ton of bass, learned new techniques, and had an absolute blast. If you’re looking for a guide in the Austin area, book with Aaron—you won’t regret it! We’ll definitely be fishing with him again.
10/10. Jake was spectacular captain for my nephew and I. We caught around 17 fish! Jake knew all the good spots, was very informative and made the whole experience seamless and fun!
