Come aboard with Captain Rick for a quick action-packed adventure off Alabama's beautiful Gulf coast! The inshore and nearshore waters off the coast of Gulf Shores and Orange Beach are the perfect place to chase after a slew of prized fighting and eating fish without spending your whole day out on the water! On these 2-4 hour trips, your trip will start with a warm greeting from Captain Rick at the Fort Morgan Marina, a short safety on the water talk, followed by an explanation of the day's plans. Captain Rick will always answer any questions and point out points of interest you will see along the way as you motor out to the best fishing spots. There are always dolphins playing and feeding just outside of the marina, and giant oil rigs are close by. There will be crab traps and shrimp boats and huge cargo and Navy ships coming and going from Mobile, just 30 miles north of Mobile Bay. You'll be fishing aboard a 24' Kenner with a capacity for 6 people. Powered by a 150 HP Yomaha engine, she'll have no problem getting you to where the fish are biting. As the proud owner of a 24' Kenner, Captain Rick has mastered navigating his boat with a fully remote controlled trolling motor that is capable of holding any position required without any anchors. One of the recent additions to his boat is a New High Tech Side San Sonar that is able to see fish from 150 ft on either side of the boat. She has a VHF radio for coast guard and boat-to-boat communications. Whether you end up chasing Reds and Trout inshore or poking it a little further out to target Spanish Macks, Kings, and sharks, Captain Rick will always clean and fillet your catch for you when you get back to the dock. Captain Rick will tell you all about it while he makes slight work filleting your catch, but you can have your fresh catch cooked 3 ways right there at Tacky Jacks, it's delicious and as fresh as it gets. When Red Snapper are in season, you already know Captain Jake is going to be chasing them down. Captain Jake has a federal permit which allows him to get a head start on the season (season opens a week earlier for federally permitted vessels) and allows him to chase bigger specimens further offshore! These delicious fish tend to put up quite a fight by using a head-shaking tactic, making catching one of these beauties a real treat! These fish are commonly found around 6-8 pounds but can also grow to be about 20 pounds! Catching these fish requires dropping a line deep into a strong current and Captain Jake can help increase your chances of catching a pile of these amazing fish! All equipment, licenses, and bottled water provided. For your trip you'll be cruising aboard a big and wide fan boat with an outboard and a trolling motor as well. Lights run off of batteries from a quiet Honda 2000 generator. We can go in inches of water aboard this vessel! Not to mention the front bow boasts over 5,000 watts of lights that light up the ocean floor as if it were high noon! Typical species are stingrays, sheepshead, mullet, flounder, black drum, skipjack, cownose rays, butterfly rays, and more! The water comes alive at night and there are thousands of marine creatures to be seen and most people shoot 100-200 times a night. This trip is mainly in Orange Beach and you may keep all of the fish. The stingrays can be released if you do not want to keep them. We also have charters in Gulf Shores, Perdido Key, Pensacola, Gulf Breeze, Fort Walton Beach, Navarre, Destin, and more. Charters usually begin as the sun goes down. Gigging is using a long spear to harvest fish and bowfishing is shooting an arrow at the fish with a bow and reeling it in with a reel attached to the bow.
