Miami Beach Fishing Overview

Miami Beach offers a prime location for fishing charters, with access to mangroves, reefs, and warm offshore currents just a short boat ride away. Anglers can enjoy year-round bottom fishing and pelagic action, as well as inshore species such as Tarpon, Shark, Jacks, Barracuda, Snook, Cobia, Permit, Ladyfish, and more. Offshore trips offer the chance to catch Swordfish, Marlin, Tuna, Kingfish, Grouper, and Mahi Mahi. Inshore fishing is consistent year-round and offers plenty of fish in a short period of time, while offshore trips require a full day and may require venturing 15-25 miles out. Miami Beach's many marinas are home to a sea-hardened charter fleet, and fishing licenses are covered for every guest aboard as long as the captain has a valid charter captain license.

Miami Beach Inshore Fishing

Just minutes away from high-rise condos and loud city blocks is one of the largest and most biodiverse open water inshore fisheries on Florida's Atlantic coast. Biscayne Bay stretches from North Miami Beach all the way down to Elliot Key close to the Southern Glades. It is impossible to fish all of this water in a year, much less a single day. Luckily, our Miami Beach fishing charters know all the best spots. Throughout Biscayne Bay there are numerous islands, flats, cuts, canals, and channels. Here is where you'll find monster Snook, Permit, Bonefish, Redfish, and more.

If you can stand the heat of summer, you'll have a chance at catching Miami's true A-lister: the Tarpon. These Silver Kings hang out in channels, flats, and around bridge pilings as they fill up on schooling Menhaden and other baitfish snacks. Miami Beach inshore fishing isn't all about the saltwater, however. The city's freshwater canals are full of massive Peacock and Largemouth Bass, which put up incredible fights for landlocked species.

Miami Beach Deep Sea Fishing Charters

The fun doesn't stop in town. Just a short boat ride from Miami Beach and you can be fishing hundreds of reefs, wrecks, and shallow structure that are all teeming with life. Reef & wreck trips are typically 4-6 hours long, and are excellent for taking the family out. When fishing shallow structure, there is no telling what you will catch. Grouper and Snapper species are to be expected, as well as any number of tropical fish species like Triggerfish and Jacks.

For the longer trips, you will not find closer access to the Gulf Stream than in Miami Beach. Proximity to this ocean-wide current means species that normally take extended day trips to target can be caught on half-day to 3/4 day trips. Species like Sailfish, Wahoo, Tuna, and Kingfish are all caught on these trips. The king of offshore fishing in Miami Beach, however, is the Mahi-Mahi. Possibly the most recognizable fish in the world, these vibrant colored predators invade Miami's offshore waters in the heat of summer. There are few things more exciting that finding a floating patch of seaweed and drawing out a bull Mahi-Mahi from under it.

Captain Charles is the MAN. Can't ask for much more when it comes to a fishing charter. Took us to all the hot spots he knows about. Kept fresh bait on our lines from start to finish. Good music playing. And most importantly just a good wholesome dude who's easy to get along with and happy to help us! Would recommend to anyone trying to catch some fish while in the area!

I booked this trip for my husband and grandson. We didn't want a large group trip, so this one was perfect. Capt Joey and I spoke several times and he was quick to respond with any answers I had. He was knowledgeable, helpful, and ensured my guys had a great trip! I would recommend him highly, with no hesitations. Hello 3/19/2023 Captian Bryan tried very hard to get fish for us but the lines kept getting severed , also it looks like he was missing a mate today so he had to drive the boat , fix new rigs etc. The scenery was great but we really wanted to catch some fish.

My husband and I had a blast with Captain Mike. We did the Peacock bass fishing/Iguana hunting combo, unfortunately the recent weather had affected the peacock bass so we were able to fish for other types of fish. The best part was the Iguanas and we were able to take our meat home with us! (FYI for airport info- it just needs to be in a small carry on sized cooler and meat and icepacks need to be frozen solid, we made it through just fine, no need to check a bag.) Mike was very knowledgeable and entertaining; his dog was a great addition to the entire experience has he would retrieve the iguanas on shore once we shot them. Mike was an awesome guide, and this experience was well worth it! We would go back to visit captain Mike for another Florida adventure in a heart beat!

Captain Michael exceeded our expectations. We had some very cold water temps which affected the peacock bass fishing but Mike still got us on other species's of fish. My boys really liked gigging the armoured catfish and they were plentiful. Now off to my favorite part, hunting iguana! We had plenty of shooting opportunities and ended up with 18 iguana in the boat plus a few we did not recover. We were also able to noose a very large iguana! A big surprise was Mike had a dog that would retrieve the iguana after the shot which made it exciting to see the dog work. We would definitely book with Michael again. This trip was kid friendly with my 11 and 13 year old son's.

Captain Bryan and his deckhand James, and Kila were AMAZING!!! I was so impressed! The trip was so great, I didn’t want it to end. Honestly, I can’t imagine going on another fishing trip without him. He is super knowledgeable, funny, and personable! He told us the name of each fish we caught, if we had to throw it back due to size, or due to not being in season. I learned so much! This trip was for my fiancé’s birthday and he had such a great time with our nieces and nephews. I’ve never went fishing my entire life and I caught the first fish! Thank you Captain Bryan and we look forward to being on the water with you again!

Maurice and his son took 5 of us out and despite unusual 50 degree rainy weather in Miami we absolutely crushed it. Caught some kingfish, false albacore, and-the cherry on top-a beautiful sailfish. Maurice worked tirelessly to put us on fish and even stayed out a little longer than we should have to get us more bites. He runs a very clean operation and I’ll be back for more.
