Fishing in Vero Beach
trip description for Inshore, Flats, & Backcountry Trip in Vero Beach

The Indian River (originally name the "Rio de Ais") is a 156 mile long brackish waterway with an average depth of 4ft and widths varying from 0.5 to 5 miles. Heavily lined with mangrove forests, sandy islands and hidden oyster beds makes it one of the most unique fishing experiences out there. Our favorite species to target are Snook, Tarpon, Redfish, Trout and Snapper. Starting at sunrise we'll head across the flats and into the backcountry. Using light tackle and/or fly rods we'll check all the nooks looking for the larger predator species feeding in the early morning like Tarpon. As the sun rises we will work our way to the flats and sight fish reds, snook, and trout. Every trip is different and we'll find what's running and what they're hitting. It's always an adventure. Hiring a guide provides a number of benefits and many choose to book a fishing guide for a combination of experience, local knowledge, convenience, and cost-effectiveness.

Working with experienced fishing guides who know the best local spots and techniques can dramatically increase your odds of a great day. Having someone who is on the water every day and knows the area like the back of their hand is going to give you the best chances of success.

Booking a guide is also more cost effective, especially if you only get out a handful of times per year. When you consider all of the costs you would incur on your own such as the price of a boat, maintenance, insurance, gas, high-quality gear and tackle, repairs, and more, you’ll find that DIY is sometimes not worth the expense.

Even if you’ve got a great setup already in your home waters, booking a guide also provides a great opportunity to experience new techniques, new locations, or even a chance at a new target species to knock off the bucket list.

Spent a half day out with Captain Kenneth! Had an amazing day fishing for black drum, mango snapper, tarpon, and snook. He did an awesome job running the boat and keeping everyone going and hooking the big ones! The questionable weather in Florida didn’t stop us from having a good time. Thank you for the great day!
