Is booking a fishing guide worth the money?

Hiring a guide provides a number of benefits and many choose to book a fishing guide for a combination of experience, local knowledge, convenience, and cost-effectiveness.

Booking a guide is also more cost effective, especially if you only get out a handful of times per year. When you consider all of the costs you would incur on your own such as the price of a boat, maintenance, insurance, gas, high-quality gear and tackle, repairs, and more, you’ll find that DIY is sometimes not worth the expense.

The fishing seasons here are influenced by the Gulf of Mexico's warm waters and diverse ecosystems. Spring and summer are peak times for fishing, with species like redfish, speckled trout, and flounder being abundant. The slower pace of the winter season allows for a more relaxed fishing experience, with less competition for the best spots. What types of fishing are popular in Perdido Pass?

Perdido Pass is renowned for its variety of fishing opportunities, catering to different preferences and skill levels. One popular method is inshore fishing, which takes place in the shallower waters near the coastline. Here, anglers often target species such as redfish, speckled trout, and flounder. Inshore fishing is accessible and can be done from a boat, kayak, or even from the shore, making it a versatile option for both beginners and experienced fishermen.

For those looking for a more adventurous experience, offshore fishing is a thrilling alternative. This type of fishing involves heading out into the deeper waters of the Gulf of Mexico, where larger species like snapper, grouper, and amberjack can be found. Offshore fishing often requires a boat equipped for deep-sea conditions and can involve longer trips, sometimes lasting several hours or more. The challenge and excitement of reeling in big game fish attract many to this style of fishing.

Additionally, Perdido Pass offers excellent opportunities for pier and bridge fishing, which is perfect for those who prefer to stay on solid ground. The Perdido Pass Bridge and nearby piers provide easy access to deeper waters without the need for a boat. This method is ideal for families and casual anglers, allowing them to catch species like sheepshead, pompano, and bluefish. The convenience and simplicity of pier and bridge fishing make it a popular choice for many visitors to Perdido Pass.

Captain Bobby was GREAT. The 2 hour inshore is a perfect length of time if you have kids, or if you don't know if you will enjoy fishing or not. My son has been talking about fishing forever and I found Captain Bobby via a Google search. This was the BEST DAY of our trip to Gulf Shores/Orange Beach. He's excellent and patient with kids - and will clean up your fish and cut it up and provide you with a restaurant recommendation where they will fry up your fish for you. I even caught a 40 lb Black Drum fish - and it was my first time ever fishing! 10/10.
