About Your Trip

Step aboard with Captain Richard and get ready to experience the inshore and nearshore fishing gems of Tampa Bay like a true local. With over 40 years of fishing experience on these waters, Captain Richard brings a lifetime of knowledge to every trip. From picking the perfect bait to finding the hidden honey holes, he knows exactly how to turn an average day on the water into an unforgettable one.

You’ll fish from Captain Richard’s
25’ Robalo center console, ideal for navigating the calm backwaters, bustling bay, and nearshore reefs just off the coast. With room for up to four anglers, this setup is perfect for a small group of friends or a family adventure. Powered by a 250HP Yamaha engine, the boat moves quickly between spots, giving you more time with lines in the water. A live bait tank, cooler for your catch, and T-top for shade make for a comfortable ride, and while there’s some cover, don’t forget your hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen—this is sunny Florida fishing at its finest!

Tampa Bay offers a rich mix of inshore and nearshore species, and Captain Richard will tailor your trip to what’s biting and what you want to catch. Cruise the mangrove-lined shorelines and back bays to chase Redfish, Spotted Seatrout, Flounder, Sheepshead, and Mangrove Snapper. If you’re looking for a little more pull on the line, head out just past the bay for Snook, Tripletail, Jack Crevalle, and King Mackerel (Kingfish). Whether you're sight casting on the flats or drifting live baits near a structure, there's always action to be found.

You’ll fish using top-quality Penn and Shimano rods and reels, and Captain Richard provides all the gear, bait, licenses, and even fresh water to keep you hydrated. At the end of the trip, he’ll clean and fillet your catch, so you can enjoy the day’s rewards back at home—or at a local dockside restaurant.

Kids are more than welcome, with a minimum age of 6 for inshore trips and 10 for nearshore—making this a great way to introduce younger anglers to the sport.

If you’re looking for a relaxing, hands-on day chasing some of Florida’s favorite gamefish with a seasoned local guide, Captain Richard is your guy. Just bring your favorite snacks, a good attitude, and get ready to reel ‘em in.

The crew works hard to make your day awesome—gratuities around 20% are greatly appreciated.

Captain Richard was born and raised in St. Petersburg, Florida. He grew up on flat bottomed shrimp boats and Jon boats. His school bus would pick him up in front of his house which was attached to a bait shop. His charter company was born out of the nostalgic experiences growing up on Tampa Bay.

Scrapping barnacles off of boat bottoms, bailing the Jon boats out, and cleaning props were regular chores during grade school. By the age of 8,
he was picking shrimp as a deckhand. He also would help his mother sell bait at Rita’s Bait & Tackle. Some weekends he’d be selling oranges and prawns just outside of the 7-Eleven on Tierra Verde’s Pinellas Bayway. At the age of 12, he was the youngest in his scuba class to receive an open water PADI certification. At the age of 15, he built his very own 28′ Shrimp trawler.

He ran the boat solo or with his younger brother or best friends through out high school.

What makes you different from other guides?
I really enjoy what I do still. Many Captains seem to grumpy and have chip on their shoulders---Guiding for especially for long offshore trips is a lot of work and can be very tiring when doing high volumes of trips. I limit the number of trips so it can enjoyable for everyone and less of a grind.
