About Your Trip

If you're looking to chase one of the Gulf’s most iconic offshore species, Captain Richard’s 10-hour American Red Snapper trip is the one to book. Departing at 5:00 AM, this trip takes you up to 50 miles offshore aboard a 2020 30’ Robalo center console, designed for comfort, speed, and serious fishing.

The primary focus of the day is targeting American Red Snapper, a prized species known for its strong fights and excellent eating quality.
Fishing deep structure and reefs, you’ll use bottom fishing techniques with high-quality Penn and Shimano gear, along with fresh live bait prepared in advance by the crew.

Once you’ve reached your Snapper limit, the trip can shift gears to target other offshore favorites, depending on conditions and time remaining. You may go after Blackfin Tuna, Red Grouper, King Mackerel, Mahi Mahi, or Wahoo—all known for their power and speed out in deeper water. Captain Richard will tailor the second half of the trip to what’s biting and what makes the most sense for your group.

The boat is fully outfitted with modern navigational electronics, outriggers, downriggers, a live bait well, wireless trolling motor, private toilet, and radar, offering both comfort and capability for the full day offshore. It accommodates up to six anglers, including kids, making it a solid choice for both seasoned anglers and families looking for an exciting day on the water.

All rods, reels, bait, tackle, licenses, and fresh water are included. The crew also provides light snacks, and at the end of the trip, they’ll clean and fillet your catch. You're welcome to bring any additional food and drinks you'd like for the day, and as always, don’t forget your hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen.

Please note that a minimum 20% tip for the captain and crew is not included in the trip price, and is greatly appreciated for their hard work throughout the day.

This is a well-rounded offshore experience designed to make the most of peak Snapper season, with opportunities to explore a variety of deep-water species along the way.

Captain Richard was born and raised in St. Petersburg, Florida. He grew up on flat bottomed shrimp boats and Jon boats. His school bus would pick him up in front of his house which was attached to a bait shop. His charter company was born out of the nostalgic experiences growing up on Tampa Bay.

Scrapping barnacles off of boat bottoms, bailing the Jon boats out, and cleaning props were regular chores during grade school. By the age of 8,
he was picking shrimp as a deckhand. He also would help his mother sell bait at Rita’s Bait & Tackle. Some weekends he’d be selling oranges and prawns just outside of the 7-Eleven on Tierra Verde’s Pinellas Bayway. At the age of 12, he was the youngest in his scuba class to receive an open water PADI certification. At the age of 15, he built his very own 28′ Shrimp trawler.

He ran the boat solo or with his younger brother or best friends through out high school.

What makes you different from other guides?
I really enjoy what I do still. Many Captains seem to grumpy and have chip on their shoulders---Guiding for especially for long offshore trips is a lot of work and can be very tiring when doing high volumes of trips. I limit the number of trips so it can enjoyable for everyone and less of a grind.
