About Your Trip

Experience Adirondack fly fishing the way it was meant to be—on quiet rivers, mountain brooks, remote ponds, and scenic lakes surrounded by the wild country of Adirondack Park. Every trip with Adirondack Mountain & Stream is tailored to the angler, so your guide will choose the day’s water based on current conditions, target species, your experience level, and how adventurous you want to get. Some trips begin just a short walk from the vehicle, while others may involve hiking or paddling into more secluded water where getting there is part of the experience.

Depending on the location and season, we primarily target Brook, Brown, and Rainbow Trout, with opportunities for other Adirondack species as well. Techniques can include dry flies, nymphs, streamers, and traditional wet flies, with your guide adjusting tactics throughout the day based on hatches, water conditions, and fish activity. Experienced anglers can spend the day hunting wild trout and exploring new water, while beginners are equally welcome. If you're new to fly fishing, we can slow things down and incorporate instruction covering casting, fly selection, reading water, presentation, knots, and playing and safely handling fish.

These trips can take several different forms. We can wade rivers and smaller streams, hike into backcountry trout ponds, or incorporate canoes, kayaks, rowboats, or traditional Adirondack-style boats where appropriate. The Adirondacks offer an incredible variety of water, and we don't believe in forcing every guest into the same itinerary. Let us know whether you'd prefer an easy-access and relaxed day on the water or something a little more adventurous, and we'll build the trip around you. Full-day trips include lunch, snacks, and water, while appropriate fishing equipment and necessary boating equipment can be arranged as needed.

Along the way, we're happy to talk about the area's history, wildlife, forests, waterways, and the traditions of Adirondack guiding. Everything is included, but we also recommend bringing sunglasses, sunscreen, weather-appropriate clothing, and anything else you might want on the trip.

You'll need to buy a fishing license before getting out there. Find out more about licenses here.

This trip is managed by an outfitter. Jamie will be your point of contact and you will go out with one of their guides.

We use a cashless autopay system. We'll send you a boarding pass, and on the day of the trip, your guide will scan your boarding pass to automatically transfer the remaining balance. The only cash needed is to tip your guide (we recommend 20%).

Cancel for free up to 14 days before the trip and receive credit back to your account. Cancelling within 14 of the trip will forfeit your deposit to the guide. Day-of cancellations and no-shows will be charged the full balance of the trip to their card.

In the event of inclement weather you'll be covered by out 100% Weather Guarantee and will not lose your deposit.

In the event of inclement weather, our guides will check the conditions and make the final call on whether its safe to go on the trip. If they decide the trip needs to be postponed, we'll work closely with you to reschedule or provide a credit for the full deposit, which can be applied to any of our trips in the US and beyond.

Each trip's price is determined by the guide and reflects all associated costs. A significant factor in pricing is often the type of boat and the corresponding fuel expenses. Additional costs may include leases, marina or slip fees, and the expenses involved in providing and maintaining the necessary gear for your trip.
