Spend a day fishing the productive waters of upper Galveston Bay, Trinity Bay, and East Bay with Captain Traver, where shallow marshes, oyster reefs, and wind-swept shorelines consistently hold some of the best inshore action along the Texas coast. This fishery is all about working the right structure at the right tide, and every trip is built around putting you on fish that are actively feeding and ready to bite.

The primary targets on this trip are redfish and speckled trout, two of the most sought-after inshore species in the Gulf. Redfish are commonly found tailing in the grass, cruising mud flats, or pushing along shoreline edges where they ambush bait in shallow water. Speckled trout stack up over shell beds, drop-offs, and current seams, often responding well to drifting presentations or precisely worked artificial lures. When conditions line up, flounder can also make an appearance, especially around sandy bottoms, drains, and structure where baitfish concentrate.

Captain Traver brings 10 years of experience fishing this system and knows how quickly conditions can change across Galveston Bay. Wind direction, tide movement, and water clarity all play a major role in locating fish, and each trip is adjusted in real time to stay on productive water. Whether the bite calls for soft plastics, topwater lures, or live bait presentations, the approach is tailored to maximize your chances of filling the box.

You’ll be fishing aboard a 2017 23 foot Wellcraft center console equipped with a T-top, offering a stable and comfortable ride across the bay system. The boat is well-suited for both shallow water navigation and longer runs between productive spots, allowing flexibility to follow the bite wherever it leads throughout the day.

Trips are designed with one goal in mind, catching quality fish and putting fresh seafood on the table. With Captain Traver at the helm, you’ll be working proven water where success is a regular expectation, not a long shot. From early morning topwater strikes to steady mid-day action over structure, this is a straightforward, fish-focused experience built around the best of upper Galveston Bay and its surrounding waters.

I’ve been fishing fresh and saltwater as long as I can remember. I grew up in south Texas fishing Baffin, Copano and shamrock cove but over the past 15 years I’ve lived in south Houston and focused on fishing the bay systems in this area. My focus is to not only put you on fish but also provide a great time and experience. We will troll the rocks for redfish and sheepshead, hit some deeper reefs for some good trout as well as work some flats. during the summer months, we will throw a popping cork and live shrimp the winter months we will throw plastics and top waters.

We use a cashless autopay system. We'll send you a boarding pass, and on the day of the trip, your guide will scan your boarding pass to automatically transfer the remaining balance. The only cash needed is to tip your guide (we recommend 20%).

Cancel for free up to 14 days before the trip and receive credit back to your account. Cancelling within 14 of the trip will forfeit your deposit to the guide. Day-of cancellations and no-shows will be charged the full balance of the trip to their card.

In the event of inclement weather you'll be covered by out 100% Weather Guarantee and will not lose your deposit.
