Spend a full 8 hours exploring the rich, fish-filled waters off San Diego’s coast with Captain Zeek at the helm of his custom 49’ Shaw-Westport sportfisher. With over 20 years of experience navigating these local banks and rocky coastlines, Captain Zeek knows exactly where to go for the best shot at hooking into some of Southern California’s most prized species. From the shallows nearshore to deeper offshore zones—this trip offers a little bit of everything, all in one action-packed day.

You’ll be fishing aboard a USCG UPV Inspected vessel with all the bells and whistles. Outfitted with top-tier gear and outfitted for comfort, this 49’ sportfisher is fully equipped with outriggers, live bait wells, a GPS, fishfinder, radar, and a full electronics suite to help dial in the bite. Inside, you'll find amenities that make the day feel like a breeze—air conditioning, a dining area, full bathroom with a shower, and full-sized beds to stretch out and relax between stops. With room for up to six passengers, it’s the perfect setup for a family outing or a serious day of fishing with friends.

Captain Zeek will customize your trip based on the season and conditions, employing a mix of techniques that might include bottom fishing, trolling, spinning, jigging, popping, and drift fishing. You’ll be working the local structure and reefs for hard-fighting Yellowtail Amberjack, Halibut, White Seabass, Lingcod, Rockfish, Pacific Barracuda, and Bonito. And if the offshore scene is heating up and fish are pushing close to shore, don’t be surprised if you get the chance to chase after Bluefin or Yellowfin Tuna—or even spot a Mahi Mahi swimming under debris or kelp paddies.

All rods, reels, lures, and live bait are included, along with snacks and non-alcoholic drinks to keep you fueled throughout the day. If your trip includes a First Mate, they’ll be there to assist with everything from rigging gear to gaffing fish—tips of 15–20% are customary and greatly appreciated. Alcohol is allowed onboard in moderation, but please leave glass bottles at home.

Before you hit the water, don’t forget to purchase a valid California fishing license for everyone in your group. These are easy to get online or at Dana Landing Marina just five minutes from the boat. Child-sized life vests are available, making this trip family-friendly and ready for all ages.
