About Your Trip

Some fishing trips are a day on the water. This one is an experience. Captain Chris runs this two-day canyon adventure out of Point Pleasant, departing at 8:00 a.m. and returning the following day around 4:00 p.m., giving you the kind of time offshore that it actually takes to fish the deep canyons properly and target the species that live there.

The target list reads like a blue water bucket list: yellowfin, longfin, bluefin, and
bigeye tuna, along with mahi-mahi, marlin, wahoo, tilefish, swordfish, and whatever else the canyon produces. These are not species you stumble into on a half-day run. They require commitment, miles, and the kind of focused effort that only a dedicated overnight trip can deliver. Captain Chris has spent over 30 years working the canyons off the Jersey Shore, and that depth of experience shows in how he prepares, where he goes, and how he adapts when conditions change.

The approach on the water is flexible and responsive. Trolling, chunking, jigging, and any other technique that's producing that day are all in play. Captain Chris stays connected with other top offshore captains to track where fish are holding and what they're eating, which means the game plan evolves in real time based on what the bite is actually doing. When one method stops producing, the crew adjusts without hesitation and keeps working until something connects.

The boat is a 40-foot sportfisher fully rigged for extended offshore work. Air conditioning and a private bathroom make the overnight run genuinely comfortable, and ample cold storage keeps your catch in prime condition from the moment it comes over the rail. A knowledgeable deckhand is on board for the entire trip to assist with rigging, gaffing, and coaching, making this accessible for first-timers while delivering the hands-on support that experienced offshore anglers appreciate just as much.

Bring your own food, drinks, and something comfortable to rest with. There's space to sleep on the run out, so you'll arrive at the canyon rested and ready to fish. When fish are legal to retain, the crew puts in the work to make sure you have something worth bringing home.

The deep canyons off the Jersey Shore hold some of the most sought-after fish on the East Coast. If you've been waiting for a real offshore shot at big game species, this is the trip to book. Get on the water with Captain Chris and find out what's out there.
