FISHING in the Carolinas now is getting better. Fish are in transition going from shallow water areas chasing shad. Top water bike pretty good up shallow and on breaking fish under shad. some fish still out in deep water biting drop shot rig with plastic worm lots of fish to be caught mostly in the 1 to 3 pound range

Summer is winding down, and fall fishing is right around the corner! We've had a blast this summer catching speckled trout, red drum, flounder, Spanish mackerel, bluefish, and more. Historically, October, November, and December are some of the best fishing months around Wrightsville Beach, Wilmington, the Cape Fear River, and the surrounding beaches.
October brings our annual run of big bull redfish, with 40-inch-class fish commonly caught throughout the month, along with plenty of 18–27-inch slot fish. Speckled trout fishing also peaks in mid-to-late October, making for some great artificial-lure fishing.

While flounder season was too short to keep them this year, we'll still be catching some nice ones. Winter is also a great time to fish the area, with mild temperatures, lighter crowds, and excellent fishing during the warmest part of the day.

Did really good during the NC flounder season (Sept 1-14) we’re mostly chasing bull reds the rest of the time in the Neuse river and Pamlico Sound, with some slot reds and speckled trout in the mix. We have had a few encounters with Cobia, good casting action for Spanish mackerel, and false albacore as well.
