We've had a lower than normal tide since the full moon, the shallows have had lots of tailing pods. Deeper water areas, the fish seem to be in bigger schools. Which makes for long stretches without singles, unless you find the pods. Lots of small shrimp in the grass flats.

Throughout all the weather patterns we've been dealing with down here with rain and winds fishing has remained good with the exceptional grind when fish just not eating we are still coming inn the docks with an ok box of fish

The bite stayed strong despite the summer heat. Early mornings have been producing solid trout along the grass lines and deeper potholes, while the drum bite has remained consistent around structure and scattered shell.
We've been finding fish by staying mobile and covering water until we locate active schools. The trout are feeding early, and the drum have been keeping rods bent throughout the day. Live bait and artificials have both been producing depending on conditions.
With summer in full swing, the fish are here and the action is heating up.

Conditions have been firing on all cylinders this week from the Coastal Bend down through Baffin. High tides have been pushing fish up into some great spots and the summer bite is officially on.
REDFISH — Reds are showing well on the flats and have been especially active from Pita Island down through the Emmords area. Look for them tailing on the shallow grass edges early morning. Cut skipjack has been the go-to, and weedless soft plastics are producing along the shoreline pockets as well. Schools are starting to tighten up — when you find one fish you're finding 20....

SPECKLED TROUT — Keeper trout have been stacking up on the grassline drops from Pita all the way down to Emmords. The key is working those transition zones where the grass meets the sand. Live croaker is absolutely the bait of choice right now — rods are staying bent. For artificial, Mirrolure Softdines in green hues and Gulp in the 5-inch size have been producing. Work them slow on the drop.
BAFFIN BAY — Trophy trout continue to haunt the shorelines and sand strip areas deep in Baffin. Work Corky-style baits in darker colors early, switching to lighter colors as the sun gets up. Find the bait, find the fish — birds will tell you everything you need to know.
BOTTOM LINE — June is one of the best times to be on the water in the Coastal Bend. Book your dates now before the summer fills up.

Captain Jody was a great guide for me and my 3 sons! Two of my sons had never been fishing before and Captain Jody was patient and a great teacher. He knew the spots where the fish would be hitting, and we caught our limit of trout. Then back at the dock he fillet our fish quickly and precisely. We had a great time and would definitely recommend a trip with Jody.
Captain Curtis was a great guide. Fishing conditions weren’t great, and unfortunately everything we caught was undersized legally, but we still had fun catching some fish. Because we hadn’t caught any keepers, he even offered to let us continue fishing for about an hour extra.
We enjoyed the fishing excursion with Max today. We did catch some fish today, but no keepers. Max was very helpful and friendly thus making our trip worthwhile. We will look for him on our next fishing trip.
Our trip with Captain Brad was wonderful—we highly recommend him to others looking for a knowledgeable and experienced fishing guide. He had Gatorade stocked for the trip and went above and beyond to make sure our family had the best experience possible.
Great time on the water with Brody! After a fairly short run, we looked to hook some specks, and did we - bite in less than 5 minutes and continued for about hour and 15 minutes. Limited out and decided to go for Redfish. Check out the photo, and these were only some of the nice fillet sources we left with. Brody could not have been a nicer, more energetic, or more helpful guide. Hesitant about leaving this true review so his schedule will not fill up too much for a repeat. Seriously, great day with great guide. Thanks, BH!
