Is booking a fishing guide worth the money?

Hiring a guide provides a number of benefits and many choose to book a fishing guide for a combination of experience, local knowledge, convenience, and cost-effectiveness.

Working with experienced fishing guides who know the best local spots and techniques can dramatically increase your odds of a great day. Having someone who is on the water every day and knows the area like the back of their hand is going to give you the best chances of success.

Booking a guide is also more cost effective, especially if you only get out a handful of times per year. When you consider all of the costs you would incur on your own such as the price of a boat, maintenance, insurance, gas, high-quality gear and tackle, repairs, and more, you’ll find that DIY is sometimes not worth the expense.

Even if you’ve got a great setup already in your home waters, booking a guide also provides a great opportunity to experience new techniques, new locations, or even a chance at a new target species to knock off the bucket list.

What month is best for spadefish fishing in Alabama?

The most popular season for spadefish fishing in Alabama is summer, and most anglers book their trips 11 days in advance.

Had a great 4 hour trip in Gulf Shores, AL today! The crew was fantastic and took us to some great spots to catch our limit of Red Snapper. Very nice crew, super helpful and the boat was great. Highly recommended!

Got a late start due to weather conditions. Captain Randy and deck hand kept un informed on conditions, made recommendation of Duck Diner for Breakfast while waiting. They worked hard at getting us where there was fish. All 3 grandsons and us never had a an unwanted hook. Informative and patient with everyone. Thank You Captian and Randy and deckhand Lacey for a memorable fishing trip!

Captain Randy and Lacy were beyond amazing. I brought my family out on an 5 hour nearshore charter. Unfortunately, within the first hour we had 2/5 of the family seasick. He offered to bring us back to shore. We took him up on it. I figured that was it for the trip. I was wrong. We were able to make arrangements on the way in and the 2 that were sick were able to get back home and get some rest. We stopped briefly to use the restroom and turned right back out. We headed out further to a different rig where we were immediately into fish. I honestly can not tell you how many fish my 6 and 13 year old kids caught. In addition to a cooler full of fish, we saw a shark, lots of dolphins and a sea turtle. To cap it off, on the way back there was a squall that spawned a water spout. We got lots of pictures and memories from the trip. Captain Randy’s website says he caters to kids and families, this is one of the rare ones that went so much further than what they advertised. If you have young ones, look no further! Conditions were rough, but he worked to put us on fish and made sure that the kids caught fish and had fun. My 6 year old literally fished until her eyes rolled back and she fell asleep. This was our first trip here, but it will not be our last. Thank you so much!

My son and I had a great time out on the water with Captain Randy! My son, who is 7, had never caught a fish all on his own and he ended up catching more than I did that day! Captain Randy stayed right with him helping him get his hook baited and back in the water every cast and then cleaned the fish we kept so we could take them down the road and have them cooked up for lunch. It was an experience we will be talking about for years. We can't wait to come back and do it again!
