Boca Grande, FL is known as “The Tarpon Capital of the World”, and it certainly lives up to its name as it is one the most renowned Tarpon fishing destinations in the world! You may ask, “What makes tarpon fishing so good?” Well, annually tens of thousands of hungry tarpon migrate to Boca Grande pass and its surrounding areas for their annual spawn. They usually show up in early April, hungry after a long journey and want to fatten up. Now this incredible migration happens all over the Gulf of Mexico and along the Atlantic coast as well, but in most areas, the Tarpon are on the move. Boca Grande is different mainly due to Boca Grande Pass. This small inlet between Gasparilla Island and Cayo Costa is the deepest natural inlet on the Gulf of Mexico, reaching depths of approximately 80 feet. Tens of thousands of tarpon congregate in the area from April through August, feeding day and night, as they prepare to head back offshore for their annual spawning ritual. There are very few other places in the world where this many Tarpon congregate in one place and are actually happily eating! After weeks of feeding, they begin to gather into large breed schools to socialize as they prepare for this spawning ritual. They gather in huge schools that are sometimes 500 fish or more, giving anglers ample opportunities. After the spawn is over in early July most of the fish stay in the area to feed on the abundance of food the surrounding water has to offer. Great Tarpon fishing action will continue thru October offering anglers a chance at battling the “Silver King” for over 6 months out of the year! So head out with Captain Ryan Reigsecker to do battle with these Silver Kings to experience drag yanking power, high flying aerial displays, and a beautiful day out on the water! You'll be fighting these fish on medium heavy - heavy weight rods usually using live bait (live blue crabs, mullet, or pin fish) depending on what the fish are eating that day. Depending on the time of year you will either float the live bait below a bobber through the pass (where thousands of fish wait for bait to be flushed through below) or site fish for big schools cruising the surf and surrounding areas. Captain Ryan will provide all the necessary gear so all you need to bring are your favorite snacks and drinks, some fresh arms, and some friends/family to help you reel in these behemoths! Read More

Captain Mike Jr is ready for your experience to begin with the best experience a Boca Grande Fishing Charter can offer. Some of his client's favorite charter destinations include, Little Gasparilla Island, Boca Grande, Don Pedro Island, Knight's Island, Palm Island, Englewood, Pine Island, Cabbage Key, Venice, Port Charlotte and more! If you don't see your location listed, but you'd like a fishing charter in South West Florida, please feel free to reach out. If Captain Mike can't service the area you're interested we know tons of other guides that can! On these inshore trips you will mostly be using light tackle spinning gear (which Captain Mike will provide). You'll be throwing either live bait (pin fish, shrimp, blue crabs) or fishing artificial lures. From hammering the mangroves in the backwaters to stalking fish on off the beaches, Captain Mike is an expert at it all and will show you how to get on the fish. When Tarpon season is in, Tarpon trips become the most heavily desired trips Captain Mike runs, and for good reason. Between insane strength, aerial displays, and gianormous size, Tarpon are arguable one of the funnest species to chase. When the Tarpon have migrated elsewhere (October - April), your main targets for the day include Snook, Redfish, Trout, Sharks, a variety of Snapper species. Depending on the time of year don't be surprised if you catch Triple Tail, Permit, Barracuda, and Sheepsheadm and If you want to do battle with one of the biggest fish in the ocean, Captain Mike also know how to hook into Goliath Grouper! Local Hot Spots: TURTLE BAY Turtle Bay is a large bay with mostly shallow water. There are several deep spots in Turtle Bay as well, but navigation can be tricky if you don't have an experienced Captain. When in this area we will typically be catching Trout, Snook and Redfish. BULL BAY Bull Bay is an isolated, world famous fishing bay, surrounded by untouched land. Past Presidents have come to this area specifically to fish these waters. The bay is mostly shallow water, with deep pockets and pot holes. During the winter months large amounts of Snook rest in these pockets for high volume fishing. Captain Mike will provide expert advice on where the best fishing is and what species is hottest, but is most interested in doing whatever it is you'd like to do on your charter. So if there is a species you'd like to target or location you'd like to fish please leave notes when you book so Captain Mike can plan accordingly. No matter where you fish, Captain Mike has you covered with all the top-of-the-line rods, reels, tackle and lures you will need for a successful day out on the water. All he recommends you bring are your favorite snacks and drinks, sunglasses, and the desire to catch a pile of fish! Read More

Captain Tom is a seasoned captain with great experience on the gulf. Super easy to get along with and will show all types of fisherman a day full of action and a cooler full of fish. We had the best experience on our 6 hour trip offshore. We caught many grouper and snapper and as a bonus we pulled a Goliath grouper. We plan on using Captain Tom’s services again to do some sport fishing. Overall 10 out of 10. Big shout out to the first mate Ryan. Class act, and was always ready to assist and make it happen. His humor is an integral part of the overall success!! Can’t thank these guys enough!
