trip description for Fort Lauderdale Fishing Charters in Fort Lauderdale

Fort Lauderdale coastline offers a wide array of game fish. One of the best parts of fishing here is that you don't have to go far out to get to the deep water fishing grounds. We have an abundant coral reef system and thirty feet to 100 feet and consistently gets deeper from there on. The local crystal blue waters offer reef fishing, shipwreck fishing and we are not far from the gulf-stream. Fort Lauderdale fishing attracts all types of anglers, from passionate salt water anglers or total newcomers looking to experience the sport of deep sea fishing and Captain Mike can accommodate all of them! Most common Target Species: Sailfish: Florida’s official state saltwater fish, this tackle buster inhabits tropical and subtropical waters. Sailfish usually travel alone or in small groups. The outstanding feature is the long, high first dorsal fin. Known for its high, acrobatic jumps, the sailfish is a favorite of blue-water anglers. Grouper: A generic name for several deepwater species, these bottom dwellers are important to both recreational and commercial fishermen. Red grouper and gag grouper (sometimes called black grouper) are most popular with anglers. Anglers typically “bottom fish” for these species, but during the cooler months, they can be caught in shallow water by trolling artificial lures. Snappers: An offshore species usually found in 60 to 440 feet. Red snapper is pinkish to red in color, and its pointed anal fin distinguishes it from other members of the snapper family. Juvenile red snapper once died by the millions in shrimp trawls, but new regulations have helped this species bounce back. Red snapper are considered one of the finest food fish found in Florida waters. Mackerels: This family includes both king mackerel and its smaller cousin, Spanish mackerel. These fish can be found in the western Atlantic Ocean from Maine to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and into the Gulf of Mexico. One of the state’s top ocean predators, kingfish are the favorite target of tournament fishermen. Children and family groups are always welcome at Lauderdale Sport Fishing and it doesn't matter if you are a seasoned angler or have never been fishing before. Captain Mike will help you catch that fish of your life with his extremely customer friendly attitude so you ca enjoy your trip to the fullest! Captain Mike at Lauderdale Sport Fishing has many years of experience fishing at the Fort Lauderdale waters so whether it's a corporate group or you are bringing the family and kids, let Lauderdale Sport Fishing be your choice for sportfishing in South Florida. trip description for Full Day Trolling Fun- 45' in Fort Lauderdale

Off the coast of Fort Lauderdale, there are a couple different techniques for trolling: trolling the reefs for Kingfish and Bonitos and trolling offshore for Mahi Mahi, Wahoo, Tunas, and sometimes even a Blue Marlin! **Trolling the Reef** 90% of your bites will be on the deep lines, so Captain Taco will troll with 2 planner boards that take the bait about 45 feet down along with 3 baits skipping across the surface at about 5 to 6 knots. If you get a Kingfish bite 9 out of 10 times both deep rods will get hit at the same time. These fish like to travel in schools so Captain Taco will steer the boat in big circles dragging the baits around where you got the first bit and BAM every time you circle you should get another bite. (Well that’s how it ideally would work of course) **Trolling Offshore** When trolling offshore Captain Taco will pump the gas a little to cover more ground. You'll usually troll 5 to 6 baits on the surface at 6 to 8 knots. He doesn't like trolling the planners offshore due to the resistance that the planners cause, but just about anything floating out there might hold some fish. And I mean anything if he spots a weed patch, grass line, or even a piece of driftwood, you know Captain Taco's gonna pull the baits past it to see if anybody's home. Both are great options, and you might even have enough time to try a little of both! No matter what, you are sure to have a great time fishing in Ft. Lauderdale with Captain Taco. His charter is not one of those stuffy Ft. Lauderdale fishing charters where the mate and captain are stuck on themselves and barely talk to you. They want you to party, relax, or do whatever you like to do. In his mind, his job is to make your time aboard the "Hooked Up" the most enjoyable time a person can have fishing in Ft Lauderdale. All Taco's trips come with his Full-Service Package which includes an experienced captain & mate, all necessary fishing licenses, top-of-the-line rods, reels & tackle, a cooler loaded with ice for your beers & sodas, and a lot of laughs & a great time! All he recommends you bring along with you is some food and drink for your voyage, sunscreen, sunglasses, and a little luck! Read More

To make sure you have the best possible charter experience, Captain Christopher is ready and rearing to do any kind of fishing you'd like to do. Whether that's chasing Swords, kite fishing for Sails, deep dropping for Tilefish, jigging, or bottom fishing! He can even guide spearfishing adventures, though you'll have to bring your own gear for that. Captain Christopher has some secret honey holes where the Snapper bite is on rain or shine. So if all else fails, which is rarely the case, Captain Christopher will make sure you get back to the dock with a cooler full of fish! Captain Christophers' brand new Dusky Center Console is 29 feet from propellor to bow. The whole front of the boat is a padded lounge area, making this charter great for families and avid fishermen alike! Not to mention, she comes loaded with everything you could possibly need for a successful day out on the water from rods, reels, and tackle, to fishing licenses, ice, soft drinks and water! All you need to bring are some snacks and your shades, Captain Christopher will take care of the rest! One note is that you will get bait after meeting at the dock. You and Captain Chris can try and go out and catch the bait yourselves but it is also available for purchase. Captain Chris likes to tell his clients: "If time is of the essence, rather than burn time messing around catching bait, there are plenty of guys selling bait as we leave the dock and the 20-40$ is often well-spent cash head straight out to the bigger fish." But like everything else with Captain Chris, the decision is up to you! Read More

I've been out on charters many, many times mostly down the east coast but also in Cabo. I must say the trip out with captain Manny is one of the two best trips out I've ever experienced. Her out is on fish, Jordan (the mate) ensured the rods and basis were correct and ready to catch fish. This was just a half day trip but next trip I'm going full day. Wow, I highly recommend Captain Manny!!!!! The catch highlights have to include the 54" barracuda and a 7' shark (it took two of us tag teaming and over 30 minutes to bring the shark alongside the boat for measurement.
