trip description for Tampa Bay Inshore Rodeo in Ruskin

There's simply no better way to enjoy the summer than a backcountry fishing trip with Captain Brian! He's fished the mangrove channels and around Ruskin, FL for years, and you can be sure that he'll put you right where the fish are! These channels provide perfect habitat for several sportfish species, especially Redfish and Speckled Trout, and if you get a little further off, there's perfect water for hooking Cobia, Tripletail, Bluefish, and more! These species are perfect inshore/nearshore opponents that fight hard and love to bite on a range of lures and baits. There's nothing like pulling some big ol' Red out of the mangrove roots, whether it's your first fish or your hundredth! On this trip, you'll have a blast aboard Captain Brian's 24' Ken Craft center console. She's perfectly designed for these waters, with a sleek hull profile and a shallow draft for inshore access. She's equipped with a 200-HP Yamaha engine to take you "dock to dock" smoothly and comfortable. She also features a full kit of electronics, and a live well for your bait. Captain Brian will bring everything you need for a great day, including all the rods, reels, bait, and tackle. All you need to bring is proper clothing, sunscreen (no spray please!) and a pair of sunglasses to help you spot fish. Read More

trip description for Tampa Bay Inshore Fishing in Ruskin

On this epic inshore trip, you'll be able to go after the best sportfish species that Florida has to offer, including Snook, Redfish, Speckled Trout, and more! Each of these fish offer different challenges, and on this 3, 4, 6, or 8-hour trip, you'll be able to take a shot at catching all of them! If this is your first time fishing Tampa Bay, here's a brief rundown on each of your target species. Snook: First off, a big Snook is a sight to behold, with its bold stripe and its glimmering gray scales. This fish grows up to 50 inches long and lives between four and five decades. When caught, the fish makes showy leaps and will put up a fight before you can reel it in. Snook are powerful fish, and they won’t make it easy for you to catch them, especially in shallow water. Captain Jarrod loves to see the look in an angler’s eyes when they make their big catch. Snook are plentiful in the Tampa Bay area, which makes them an ideal target for anglers. On especially plentiful days, you won’t leave the boat without multiple catches, even if you fish with a group. Redfish: One of Tampa Bay's best-known sportfish, Redfish make great catches for all anglers, regardless of experience. You’ll find the largest of these feisty and formidable fish inshore and nearshore. A relative of the Black Drum, Redfish have a unique ability to smell their prey, as opposed to relying solely on sight. They can weigh up to 12 pounds and live for 40 years, and these fish are prime fighters. You’ll never see a dull moment during your search for these magnificent creatures. Catching Redfish is a breeze when you know where to look, how they search for prey, and what they like to eat. Redfish like to stay in underwater grass, and you’ll find them easy to spot in shallow waters, depending on the tide. Redfish like to eat shellfish but won’t hesitate to take a chunk off a larger fish that passes by them. Speckled Trout: Trout have many names and species, including sea trout, spotted seatrout, speckled trout, and specks. As the various names imply, this type of trout has black spots along its sides and back over a silver underbelly. An average adult trout ranges between 12 and 24 inches long. Once a trout gets past 22-24 inches, we call it a "gator" trout. Trout typically weigh between 10 and 12 pounds, though the record for the biggest trout caught in Florida tips the scales at 17 pounds 7 ounces. You’ll typically find Trout in grass flats in about 1-6 feet of water. They like to stick close to mangroves near the shore, though you may also find them hidden in deep grass holes. During the winter, Trout sometimes venture into water as deep as 15 feet. Regardless of which species you hook, you'll have a blast on the water with Captain Jarrod! On the day of your trip you will launch from the boat ramp next to Hook's Waterfront Bar and Grill. If you need to launch from a different area, Captain Jarrod is flexible and has several options—please let him know what works best for you. You'll be fishing from the deck of Captain Jarrod's 25' Sportsman 234 bay boat. This puppy comes equipped with a 250 Yamaha SHO engine for speed and maneuverability, plus a range of amenities including a multimedia system, PowerPoles for exploring shallow flats, trolling motor, multiple live wells for your bait, Yeti coolers for your drinks, and more! This boat is perfect for a family fishing trip. Jarrod will provide you with all the equipment, tackle, and bait you need, plus he'll supply ice for your food, drinks & fish, artificial lures, photos of your catch, secret techniques and instruction for artificial bait fishing, and he will even clean and bag your fish for you at the end of the day! All you need to bring is your sunscreen, sun-protective clothing, sunglasses, any food & drinks you'd like to enjoy onboard. Beer is welcome, but please—no hard liquor or wine, and no glass containers. If you've got Captain Jarrod at the wheel, your fishing adventure will surely be one to remember! Gratuties are never expected, but are always greatly appreciated! If your captain did a good job and you had an enjoyable trip, please consider rewarding his efforts with a 15-20% tip. Read More

trip description for Tampa Bay Shark Fishing in Tampa

If you're on the hunt for top-notch Shark fishing on Florida's Gulf Coast, look no further! On this charter fishing trip, Captain Christopher will take you on the water of Tampa Bay to catch a variety of Shark species, including Bonnethead, Blacktip, Nurse, Atlantic Sharpnose, Bull, Hammerhead, and more! Tampa Bay is a massive ecosystem that consists of multiple brackish water waterways connecting the freshwater rivers with the saltwater Gulf of Mexico. Many sharks depend on these mild brackish water conditions to breed juvenile sharks, and the Tampa, Ruskin, and Apollo Beach estuaries are perfect environments for this. Captain Christopher practices the use of both live and dead natural baits in conjunction with his “Secret Chum Formula” on most Shark trips. This combination is fine-tuned to catch Sharks, which detect the chum from far away, and then go crazy for the baits! Once on of these powerful fish grabs your hook, it's game on! Sharks are famous for their stamina and toughness, and it can take twenty minutes or more to haul in a big one. Captain Christopher will be by your side, offering helpful advice and tips for fighting one of these toothy fish onto the boat. Captain Christopher operates a custom-built 21’ Clearwater 2000CC bay boat. This sleek vessel allows for a comfortable drift through the Tampa Bay flats. We had the opportunity to take our four kids on their first fishing charter while visiting Sarasota. We booked with Ultimate Fishing Adventures and Henry was our guide. I don’t think we could have asked for a better experience. Henry was amazing with the kids. He put them on fish right away and our son landed a snook on the first cast. Henry even got us up close to some manatees which was so cool. I absolutely recommend this group for your charter.

Definitely a very fun trip! Will definitely recommend to friends/families. Caught almost 50 fish and was a blast! Two takeaways for myself: Red Snapper fishing can only happen with the 10-12 hour trips, not the 4 hour trips.

Captain Wade was incredible. He exposed us to several different species of fish and was very educational. A huge manatee and even sting rays gave us appearances. Definitely worth while. Thank you sir!!!

We had a great trip with David. He arrived at the dock on time ready to go. He's got a nice, open, boat with a center console so it was easy to move around. We moved around the inter coastal area between Anna Maria and Long Boat fishing for snook, red fish, and trout. Anytime we weren't getting bites we'd move. David worked very hard to keep all of us in fresh bait, and good locations. He knew a ton about the local fish, currents, depths, and regulations. We also got to see several manatees which was such a lovely bonus! When my son hooked a big red fish David gave him great guidance to help him bring it in. He was easy to talk to and we are already recommending him to our friends. We will definitely book again next time we're in the area.

Christopher provided an exceptional fishing experience! As an army veteran and seasoned fisherman, his expertise was evident from the moment we set sail. My brother-in-law and I enjoyed a fantastic day in the bay near Tampa, reeling in trout under clear skies. Christopher's attention to detail and care extended beyond fishing – he even offered me water when I started feeling dehydrated. We had a blast and highly recommend Christopher for anyone looking.

Smooth trip. Greg and Ollie were great teachers. It was impossible to not catch a fish. They clean your fish for you and the restaurant cooks it. Highly recommend!

We had an absolutely amazing time with Captain George! We had several other fishermen passing through that were going on about how it was a “tough day” but not with Captain George!! He put us right on the fish! He was always aware of his surroundings, watching the schools of bait fish, and making sure we were in the most optimal spot. He was very knowledgeable about all of the species we caught throughout the day. We were having such a blast that we added an extra hour to onto our trip, which is when he put us on to the BIGGEST Spanish Mackerel I’ve ever seen!! Just to top it off, he was also very kind and caring. He never lost patience with me when he kept having to cast my pole into difficult spots, and he made sure to remind us to drink plenty of water and reapply sunscreen. At the end of the trip, as he was cleaning our fish, I began to overheat and he knew EXACTLY what to do. He stayed calm, let us stay for a while as I regained my strength, and even checked on me later on in the day. What an amazing experience, captain, and day!! 10/10! We will be fishing with Captain George when we are back this way, and will be referring all of our friends and family!

Lauren H. with George H. of St. Petersburg, Florida
