trip description for Carp On The Fly - Austin, TX in Austin

Get ready for one of the greatest thrills in all of Freshwater Fly Fishing, Behemoth Carp on the fly! And it isn't widely known as the pinnacle of Freshwater Flying fishing for no reason, hooking into these freshwater monsters is no easy feat. Catching a carp on the fly is ridiculously hard at first, which is why your guides love them, and they would love it even more if they could help you get on one yourself! When you go out with one of the guides to chase these feisty specimens you can expect to spend your day wading around lakes and river systems stalking your quarry stealthy and precisely. These fish are very aware of their surroundings, and you get no second chances. It’s either a perfect cast and presentation or the fish spooks, and often, the latter. When they do eat, however, you’re can bet your bottom dollar they're going to take you out to the backing! In the Fall and Winter months, you can also target smallmouth buffalo on the fly, which grow even larger than carp, and are actually indigenous to Texas waters. Teaching trips are also welcomed for folks that have never held a fly rod. If this trip is more in line with your skill level, you can expect it to be more centered around the fundamentals, rather than finding and catching a fish, but it won't be too long before your out to the backing on a giant carp as well! 110% book this guy if your ever in the Austin area. This guide knows his stuff. Myself and a couple of teenagers were on fish quick and the catching lasted the entire trip. He knows the spots and the baits. Complete professional when it comes to accommodating and encouraging guests. We fished Lady Bird Lake and easily caught 40 fish in a morning trip. Most of the fish were heavy, no dinks. Step out of a downtown high rise, onto a boat deck, at Lady Bird and slay them with this guy or hit a surrounding Austin area lake if that’s your thing.

Raymond was a great guide. We really enjoyed the trip and will definitely book with him again when the weather is warm. We are from South Carolina and here on our anniversary trip, but we WILL be back.

Kevin was fantastic! Super informative, very patient and treated us like kings. We couldn’t been happier with him as a guide. And he put us on fish and knows the River like the back of his hand. Don’t hesitate to book, you won’t be disappointed.

Aaron knows the lakes around Austin and has plenty of material onboard. We catched several fishes while weather conditions where difficult. Additionaly he was flexible and changed the trip date to get a better weather window. Aaron fits your expectations and is very friendly. I definetly recommend.
