About Your Trip

Get ready to reel in the adventure of a lifetime with Rolando and his top-tier crew as you explore the vibrant waters off Panama City, Panama! Whether you’re a seasoned angler or trying your hand at fishing for the first time, this trip combines thrilling light tackle action with a beachside escape that’s perfect for families, friends, or anyone looking to soak up the best of what Panama has to offer.

Your day kicks off
aboard a 31’ Bertram sportfisher—a classic fishing machine fully outfitted with everything you need for a productive and comfortable day on the water. With room for up to 7 guests, this vessel features outriggers, downriggers, a Raymarine electronics suite (GPS, fishfinder, radar), a Bluetooth audio system, live bait well, tuna tubes, and even a toilet for your convenience. If you’re looking to cool off between bites, air conditioning is available for a small fee—just let Rolando know in advance.

The trip begins with light tackle trolling as you cruise roughly 7 miles toward the stunning shores of Taboga Island. Along the way, you’ll have the chance to hook into exciting species like Pacific Barracuda, Bonito, Sierra Mackerel, Skipjack, and Jack Crevalle. With some luck, you might even come across Almaco Jack, Roosterfish, Mahi Mahi, or the mighty Sailfish. Depending on the conditions and your preferences, your captain may mix in spinning, popping, bottom fishing, or jigging to put you on the bite.

Once you arrive at the island, it’s time to relax and enjoy the beach—swim in the warm waters, lounge under the sun, or simply kick back while soaking in the stunning island views. Then, it’s back to trolling on the return leg to the marina, giving you another shot at landing something delicious for dinner.

Speaking of dinner, any legal catch is yours to keep, and the crew will gladly clean and fillet your fish at no extra charge. Your next meal doesn’t get any fresher than this!

Kids are more than welcome on board, making this trip an excellent choice for families. Just be sure to check ahead if you need a child-sized life vest. Snacks are a great idea to keep everyone fueled and happy, and while water is provided, you’re encouraged to bring along your favorite drinks and bites. Alcohol is allowed in moderation—just no glass bottles or hard liquor, please.

There’s a skilled First Mate on board to ensure everything runs smoothly, so don’t forget to show your appreciation with a tip (10–20% is customary).

Best of all? You don’t need a fishing license in Panama—just bring your sunblock (non-spray), sunglasses, and your sense of adventure. Between the incredible fishing, world-class scenery, and island vibes, this trip with Captain Rolando is a can't-miss experience for anyone looking to hook into something unforgettable!
