About Your Trip

Set your sights on the legendary Pearl Islands with this 10-hour deep-sea adventure to Contadora, Saboga, and the surrounding hotspots, where the waters are rich, the scenery is stunning, and the fishing is nothing short of world-class. Captain Rolando and his expert crew will guide you through a full day of rod-bending action as you chase an impressive mix of reef dwellers and offshore predators.

You’ll kick things off with a scenic cruise out to
the Pearl Islands—specifically Contadora and Saboga, two of the most productive areas in the archipelago. These islands are surrounded by rocky drop-offs, reefs, and deep bluewater channels that attract a huge variety of species. Depending on the season and conditions, you’ll have the chance to hook into Mahi Mahi, Amberjack, Cubera Snapper, Broomtail Grouper, Spanish (Sierra) Mackerel, Jack Crevalle, Almaco Jack, and even Wahoo, Bonito (Skipjack), Roosterfish, or Sailfish.

To maximize your chances, Captain Rolando will employ a wide range of proven techniques, including jigging, popping, trolling, spinning, drift fishing, and bottom fishing—all tailored to what’s biting and your target list for the day. Whether you're ripping poppers across a reef for Snapper, jigging structure for Grouper, or trolling bluewater rips for Mahi and Wahoo, you'll be covered with high-quality gear and expert guidance.

You’ll fish from a 31’ Bertram sportfisher—fully equipped for a long-range day on the water. The boat features Raymarine GPS, radar, and fishfinder, outriggers, tuna tubes, live bait well, Bluetooth audio, and a private onboard toilet. Air conditioning is also available upon request for a small fee, helping to keep everyone cool between hookups.

All rods, reels, lures, tackle, and live bait (when available) are included in your trip. The crew will also clean and fillet your legal catch at no extra cost, so you can take home the freshest possible dinner. Bottled water is provided, and if you’d like catering or private pickup arranged, leave a note when you book and they’ll get everything lined up for a seamless day on the water.

A professional First Mate will be on board to assist throughout the trip—a 10–20% tip is customary and appreciated for their hard work and service.

Panama doesn’t require a fishing license, so all you need to bring is non-spray sunscreen, polarized sunglasses, your favorite snacks and drinks (no glass bottles or hard liquor, please), and your sense of adventure.

From trophy-class reef fish to open-ocean speedsters, this 10-hour Pearl Islands trip is a full-day fishing mission that puts you right in the heart of Panama’s most exciting fishery. Whether you're after quantity, quality, or just a great time in an unforgettable location, this trip with Captain Rolando delivers on all fronts.
