Fishing reports straight from our guides in Texas
Inks Lake is at a normal level with stained water and temperatures around 79°. The fishing has been excellent lately, with some of the best action coming from schools of quality bass feeding heavily on large gizzard shad around offshore rock.
Big topwater baits and large swimbaits have been producing well when targeting these feeding schools. Finding areas holding good concentrations of gizzard shad has been the key to locating active bass, and once the right group of fish is found, anglers have opportunities to catch multiple quality fish from a relatively small area.

LAKE BELTON - Surface temperature 86.6F. Elevation 1.5 feet low and falling. White bass fishing is consistent during the first and last hour of light. If fish appear on the surface, use Cork Rigs with Sandy Sandwich Streamers imitating young-of-the-year shad. When fish do not appear on the surface, work MAL Bridge lures vertically or horizontally as indicated by sonar up to three hours past sunrise or up to 90 minutes prior to sunset. Downrigging with #12 or #13 Pet Spoons will help cover ground to help you zero in on places where these other tactics may be used. Hybrid...
STILLHOUSE HOLLOW RESERVOIR - Surface temperature 86.6F. Elevation 1.04 feet low and falling. White bass fishing is most consistent in the three hours following sunrise. Work MAL Bridge lures vertically using a "smoking" tactic with spinning gear allowing bait to fall all the way to bottom, removing slack, then cranking the lure at a moderate cadence

Red snapper, black grouper and Cobia have been great on cut bait,live bait, jigging rigs and 6" plastics.

Early morning fishing has been on fire a mix of everything speckled trout, redfish, flounder, and a few snook on artificials. Live shrimp has been scarce when available large numbers of black drum being caught on the icw. Looks like some good fishing the first week of October light North winds predicted should be a great week.
