The trout bite is hot right now in 2 to 3 1/2 feet of water using a 5 1/2 inch jerk bait from D.O.A in the color glow with a 4/0 circle hook in the nose of the bait or under a cork. Shrimp under a cork rig is working good to on a 1/4oz Jighead.

Fishing is heating up in the backcountry. Water Temps are cool in the morning and warm up later in afternoon. The snook bite is good in the glades along with the redfish. Bonefish will be here and up on the flats feeding heavily on shrimp. Baby Tarpon on fly rod has been decent as well.

Redfish have been plentiful in the bays ,rivers and, back lakes. Trout bite is good when the wind allows us to get out into the bay. Flounder are starting to fill channels and drains on their big move to spawn. Live shrimp under a popping cork, gulp on a jighead , and free lining mullet have been the ticket.

Fishing down in Shell Beach Louisiana has been nothing short of amazing this fall. The cooler temps are really putting these speckled trout and redfish in their fall patterns. We've had a huge push of sheepshead the last week or 2 along with the already plentiful speckled trout. Running grass lines and oyster reefs for trout , throwing live shrimp or artificial baits under a cork and carolina rigging live shrimp and DOA shrimp have been a killer the last few weeks. The fishing is looking to continue like this for a good while.

October has been producing well this year, plenty of flounder and redfish being caught. The trout have been biting well also. With water temps dropping the fish are definitely moving and eating well.

Fishing report from Jason L. in Cedar Key, Florida Book a trip with Captain Jason here.

October has been a great month to fish. It truly has been ‘red October’. The redfish bite has been on fire. November will bring some cold front patterns but the bite should stay strong. Just be patient. After a big cold front, the fish may be more lethargic than usual so you may have to fish artificial bait a little slower than you like. Live shrimp and cut mullet will still be good for redfish as well. You may have to start looking to the creek mouths for fish as the water gets colder. A popping cork rig will help keep you off the oyster bars. Thankfully, our cold fronts don’t last too long and it can be back in the 80s pretty quick this time of year. I know I keep saying this but just in case.....keep in mind that the redfish laws changed as of September 1st. Go to the myfwc website to get the latest info depending on the region you fish. The trout bite is starting to pick up. The water in Cedar Key is still a bit dirty but the trout are getting on the flats. Just keep working spots until you find them. Stay safe and be blessed!

Fishing report from Chris H. in Jacksonville, Florida Book a trip with Captain Chris here.

September and October were fabulous months out there. We had a very hot tarpon bite on the St. Johns River. We also had fair action on spotted seatrout, sandtrout and mangrove snapper. We caught a hand full of redfish and black bass in the brackish waters and we caught a couple of Bull Reds as well. Hurricane Ian wasn't severe in Jacksonville but we got a significant amount of rain which muddied the St. Johns River and slowed things down. The water should be cleared up any day now. As temperatures drop, I am expecting the snook to turn on in some of the river tributaries and redfish and spotted seatrout action should take off in the ICW. Sometimes the juvenile tarpon fishing can be good as well the water first cools.

Fishing report from Craig L. in Clearwater, Florida Book a trip with Captain Craig here.

The water has cooled down with the recent fronts. Bait has been plentiful, with scaled sardines, threadfin, shad, ladyfish and blue runners. This has started the nearshore to explode with Spanish Mackerel, and their big brother, the King Mackerel. For the Kingfish there is no bait to big like mackerel, lady fish, or mullet to catch that big smoker The back water bite has been getting better. Redfish are getting to be in good numbers with the cooler water. For the artificial enthusiast, topwater bite will help you locate these bruisers, as well as Speckled Trout. These fish will often be together with the mullet schools. With the extreme lowtides, you can find the Reds tailing on scattered turtle grass or around pot holes. For these conditions, live shrimp, cutbait and soft plastics will be your ideal baits. With higher tides, concentrate on points, oysterbars and spoil islands. Make sure there are mullet in these areas, because the Redfish and Speckled Trout will be there also. The best bait to use now is whitebait, silver dollar size pinfish and cutbait. Your leader should be 2-3 ft. of 20 to 30lb florocarbon, with a 3-4 o/t light style circle hook. As for the fly enthusiast, all species can be caught.
