Is booking a fishing guide worth the money?

Hiring a guide provides a number of benefits and many choose to book a fishing guide for a combination of experience, local knowledge, convenience, and cost-effectiveness.

Working with experienced fishing guides who know the best local spots and techniques can dramatically increase your odds of a great day. Having someone who is on the water every day and knows the area like the back of their hand is going to give you the best chances of success.

Booking a guide is also more cost effective, especially if you only get out a handful of times per year. When you consider all of the costs you would incur on your own such as the price of a boat, maintenance, insurance, gas, high-quality gear and tackle, repairs, and more, you’ll find that DIY is sometimes not worth the expense.

Even if you’ve got a great setup already in your home waters, booking a guide also provides a great opportunity to experience new techniques, new locations, or even a chance at a new target species to knock off the bucket list.

    Trip: 4 Hour Trip – Nearshore/Jetty

Scott was incredible. We had 3 kids on board and he was very patient and enthusiastic the entire trip. He put us on the fish quickly and we stayed on them. We were catching fish until we had to head back in. I would highly recommend beating the heat with a 6am start time, and would definitely recommend the 6 hour trip to give yourselves the most time on the water and better flexibility for traveling to different spots. If you’re surfing the web and wondering what guide you should go with, then look no further. We will certainly be booking with Scott again.

Izzy was great. My son was in on leave from the Marine Corps and was staying in Kingwood. He overslept and couldn’t make it down in time for the 6:30am shove off. I explain to Capt Izzy that it would probably be just me and he said, if my son was still wanting to go, then, we could go out in the bay for a bit and swing by to pick him up when he gets down there. That was a class act for him to make that happen, especially how bummed my son was for not being on time and thinking he wasn’t gonna be able to go.if we were in Louisiana, we would of limited out in about 2 hours. He put us on fish, they were just an inch short. We were able to catch some to take home. I would highly recommend using Capt. ilIzzy and will be using him again
