Fishing through all of these cold fronts, there is one thing that has been consistent. That has been live shrimp. If you use live shrimp, you will get plenty of action. Sheepshead are in all the rock holes and on the oyster bars. Incoming tides are best. We have been catching Reds, Black Drum, Snapper, Seatrout, and even some Goliaths using Shrimp. Snook fishing has been a little tougher, with the back country being the only place to find them right now. This should be changing next month if we get some consistently warmer weather. This week brought fairly calm seas and very little current, creating comfortable conditions for most of our trips. Fishing was somewhat slower early in the week, mainly due to the lack of current, but once we were able to get quality live bait and establish a good spread while trolling the reef, the bite improved noticeably.
Slow trolling live bait and kite fishing proved to be the most effective techniques. When we had the right bait and positioning, we were able to connect with several Sailfish, showing that even on slower weeks, dialing in presentation and timing can make all...

We also had a few Blackfin Tuna around, along with some medium-sized Bonitas, providing steady action. One of the standout fish was a 20 lb Blackfin Tuna that put up quite the fight, making several strong runs before finally coming to the boat. In addition, we caught a few Mahi, mostly on the smaller side, but still great fights and a welcome surprise this time of year.
Snapper fishing in deeper water has been effective as well, giving us another option when the trolling bite slows down.
As water temperatures continue to warm, the fishing should heat up right along with them.
The fishing in Naples and Southwest Florida has been outstanding, with the fish into a nice wintertime pattern, despite the warm tropical weather.
In the backcountry, we have been bouncing jigs and drifting shrimp on the bottom of the deep holes surrounded by shallow flats, and getting rewarded with all kinds of fish, big and small. Redfish, black drum, sheepshead, big seatrout, big mangrove snapper, jewfish (golaith grouper) and jack crevalle have been the predominant characters in the show, and they have kept bends in the rods, smiles on faces, and yummy delights on dinner plates!

The only species we have not been tangling with, have been snook and tarpon. And with another strong cold front heading down shortly, I don't expect to see those fish in the back waters, but one never knows!
In the meantime, we will keep on enjoying some outstanding fishing, fun, and fish dinners in the foreseeable future!

After a back-to-back cold front and a pretty nasty die off with water temps in the 50's, things have finally started returning to normal. Reefs and wrecks turned out a solid mackerel bite, a decent yellowtail bite, and plenty of muttons in the shallower reefs . Even had some surprise sailfish, and nice wahoo as well.
Bayside has been very productive on the mangrove snapper front with some nice-sized fish for the box and plenty of action as well.

Father and son duo, Bill and Jackson, caught several over slot redfish and a few black drum on a recent trip to Flamingo in Everglades National Park.
Kenny Brogan from Jumping Branch, WV came down to get out of the cold and caught some quality backcountry fish, all on artificial.

Kevin was an amazing guide. He was very knowledgeable and provided easy step by step instruction instructions while fighting 2 - 5 foot lemon sharks in less than 1/2 hour before daylight faded. Both were unkooked boat side with great video and pictures. His boat is clean and organized making it safe and easy to move around the boat while battling a catch of a lifetime for 2 Wisconsinites. Thanks Kevin. See you soon.
My dad and I were able to squeeze in on a charter with Captain Eric fairly last minute which was awesome! He got us both on some sea trout first thing in the morning, lined us up on some tarpon but before I was able to take any shots on the fly rod, we spooked a tarpon and in came the bull sharks. We buzzed over to a different flat where I had shots at both snook and redfish. I didn’t end up making any of my shots with the fly rod but this was also my first saltwater fly fishing experience as well as my first guided trip so it was all pretty new to me. I’m just stoked we were able to get out in the first place. But I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Captain Eric and I certainly wouldn’t turn down another opportunity to have him guide us! He’s quiet but very focused and knowledgeable about the marine life and was able to give me casting tips as well with the fly rods. Thank you again for squeezing us in Eric!
Sean was outstanding! Incredibly knowledgeable super safe and organized and gave us a really great experience. He is a true professional and knows the lanes like the back of his hand. Cannot recommend him enough.
It was a great day on the water. We were able to catch a few peacock bass and lots of largemouth. Roy was well prepared, good at coaching, knowledgeable about the waters and put us on fish.
Ken was great! Had a very chill time fly fishing for tarpon, snook, and redfish. Ken was easy to fish with and gave us opportunity at all three species on a 6 hour trip. I would recommend him as a guide to anyone!
Great fishing trip for our family with Captain Brian! He put us on more speckled trout than ever imagined and ensured that everyone had an awesome experience. If you’re interested in a wonderful fishing experience for a family, be sure to request Captain Brian!
