trip description for Tampa Bay Inshore Roundup in St. Petersburg

If you're looking to get on some spectacular inshore sportfish in the Tampa Bay/St. Pete area, there's no better guide than Captain Thomas. He's been fishing these waters for more than two decades, and he's studied the prime spots and best holes in order to put you on record-setting fish! You'll be targeting classic inshore species such as Redfish, Speckled Trout, and Snook—sometimes known as the "Florida Triple" or the "Florida Grand Slam". These fish are all great fighters, and are an absolute blast to catch, whether it's your first time out there, or your thousandth. You'll be chasing bites using light-tackle techniques, fishing both live bait and lures depending on the season, water conditions, and weather. Captain Thomas is a pro, and he's got an array of tips and tricks to help you hook a personal best! Thomas runs his trips aboard his 22' Century bay boat—an ideal vessel for hunting lunkers in inshore waters. She's fast, with a 250-HP Yamaha engine, and a hull profile that's sharp enough to cut through chop and shallow enough to get into backcountry channels where big fish like to congregate. She's also equipped with a wireless trolling motor to help you sneak up on your targets, plus a live well for bait and an ice box for your keepers. Everything you need will be provided for you, including rods, reels, bait, and tackle. All you need to bring is sunscreen (lotion only, no spray!), a hat, and a pair of sunglasses to cut the surface glare. Get out there and have a blast! Read More

We had a great fishing trip with Captain Wade. I booked our trip for my boyfriend’s 40th birthday for us, and 3 of his friends. Wade had everything we needed and more and provided a fun and laid back experience. We all caught a handful of fish, myself included, who had never fished before. I highly recommend!!

We had a great morning on the water with Captain George. He put us over fish right away. First cast went into the cooler! He was very knowledgeable and courteous. We enjoyed our time on his boat!

We had a great trip with David. He arrived at the dock on time ready to go. He's got a nice, open, boat with a center console so it was easy to move around. We moved around the inter coastal area between Anna Maria and Long Boat fishing for snook, red fish, and trout. Anytime we weren't getting bites we'd move. David worked very hard to keep all of us in fresh bait, and good locations. He knew a ton about the local fish, currents, depths, and regulations. We also got to see several manatees which was such a lovely bonus! When my son hooked a big red fish David gave him great guidance to help him bring it in. He was easy to talk to and we are already recommending him to our friends. We will definitely book again next time we're in the area.

I had a great day today with Captain Ray, we were catching Snook most of the day despite dolphins trying to disrupt things. Nothing huge caught but plenty of them with a bonus Sting Ray. On the trip i saw Dolphins, eagles and 2 huge nurse sharks. Ray himself is good company, very friendly and patient with those that are new to this style of fishing. I have another trip booked and we are going for larger Snook. Cant recommend more highly.

We had an absolutely amazing time with Captain George! We had several other fishermen passing through that were going on about how it was a “tough day” but not with Captain George!! He put us right on the fish! He was always aware of his surroundings, watching the schools of bait fish, and making sure we were in the most optimal spot. He was very knowledgeable about all of the species we caught throughout the day. We were having such a blast that we added an extra hour to onto our trip, which is when he put us on to the BIGGEST Spanish Mackerel I’ve ever seen!! Just to top it off, he was also very kind and caring. He never lost patience with me when he kept having to cast my pole into difficult spots, and he made sure to remind us to drink plenty of water and reapply sunscreen. At the end of the trip, as he was cleaning our fish, I began to overheat and he knew EXACTLY what to do. He stayed calm, let us stay for a while as I regained my strength, and even checked on me later on in the day. What an amazing experience, captain, and day!! 10/10! We will be fishing with Captain George when we are back this way, and will be referring all of our friends and family!

Taylor was great to fish with. We had my 3 year old son, my 70 year old father and my 14 year old nephew on the boat. Everyone had a blast and got a fish on a day that was not ideal conditions for fishing. Highly recommend and plan to use him and Alex again in the future.

It was a slow morning but our guide kept moving and trying spots. Was talking with other guide friends to get on a hot bite but it was slow for everyone. We did get some keeper sheep head and the guide was easy to talk to. I would try again with them if we get back here again.
