If you're a saltwater angler looking to go toe-to-toe with one of the world's most badass sportfish, this trip with Captain Phil has your name on it! He's an expert at finding and hooking big-time Tarpon, Florida's premier inshore sport species. These fish are big, beautiful, and known worldwide for their ferocious fighting abilities and acrobatic leaps! Commonly known as the "Silver King", these fish are the top predators in their inshore habitat, and hooking one is the experience of a lifetime. You'll chase bites using light tackle techniques with both bait and lures. Tarpon behavior changes depending on the season, the water conditions, and even the phases of the moon, so Captain Phil's expertise here is absolutely invaluable. Fishing for Tarpon is unlike any other kind of fishing. When you hook one, breathe, remain calm and focus on listening to Captain Phil's instructions—these monsters are notoriously good at snapping lines and throwing hooks! Play the fish well, and you'll have a chance to make some real lifelong memories. On this trip, you'll also be able to go after giant Goliath Grouper, Hammerhead Sharks, Jack Crevalle, and other species as well! Just tell Phil what you're after and he'll do everything he can to put you on the fish. Captain Phil will provide all the fishing gear—including rods, reels, tackle, and bait—plus fishing licenses, water, and ice. There is usually ample room in the onboard coolers, but you may bring a small cooler for your provisions if you’d prefer. In the summer months, it's bound to be hot, but long sleeved shirts are highly recommended to protect you from the sun. Captain Phil also suggests sunblock, polarized sunglasses, and a hat. Shoes should be made for wet surfaces. Plan on memorable moments, and bring your favorite camera! Read More

Inshore Fishing Charter in Boca Grande

Boca Grande Pass Legendary Tarpon

NEW
24 ft 1 - 5 People From $150 / person

Boca Grande is home to many fish species, but there's no doubt which one rules the water when it comes to action and excitement. Tarpon are Florida's premier inshore gamefish for a reason, and there's no better place to catch one than here with Captain Chris! Captain Chris has dedicated most of his life to helping people catch Tarpon. Targeting the "Silver King" has been a family tradition for a long time, and Tarpon fishing runs in his blood. At the age of five, Chris caught his first Tarpon, weighing around 80 pounds, in the deep waters of Boca Grande Pass with his father Mark. Even before that, his mother Cynthia was fighting Tarpon in Boca Grande Pass while pregnant with him. Captain Chris uses traditional live bait methods for catching Tarpon on his fishing charters. The most common live baits used include Blue Crabs, Pass Crabs, Squirrelfish, and Jumbo Shrimp. Live baits are drifted along the bottom of the pass, as well as other water columns where Tarpon can be found, using a transducer bottom machine. This method requires constant adjustment of the line depth to keep the baits within the “strike zone”. The live baits are presented as naturally as possible by using extra long leaders, heavy lead weights, and constant maneuvering of the boat by the Captain. Using these methods, Captain Chris consistently gets his clients on the fish, and—although there are no guarantees in fishing—has a better than 90% success rate when it comes to his Tarpon trips. Captain Christopher operates out of a custom built 21’ Clearwater 2000CC bay boat, built to the Captain’s standards in 2019. This modern vessel allows for a comfortable drift and great manueverability. There’s a lot of fishing space and also shaded T-top for hot summer days. The boat also has a Bluetooth stereo, so feel free to bring your favorite playlist! Captain Chris will supply everything you need, including rods, reels, bait, and tackle. All you need to bring along is some sunscreen (no spray please!), proper clothing, a cooler with some snacks and drinks, and a smile! Read More

Backcountry Combo Trip

100% (5)
20 ft 1 - 4 People From $125 / person

Head out for an awesome fishing adventure around Sarasota, FL with Captain Darius! Though he loves running further from shore to bottom fish the reefs for grouper, snapper, and pelagic species, the weather conditions have to be pretty stellar to allow this kind of trip. Thus, aboard his 23' Parker, he spends a lot of time hammering the inshore with his clients, and there are no shortage of fish (and big ones at that!) to catch! Lush grass flats abound in this area. These shallow grass flats are full of crabs, shrimp, and baitfish which in turn attract the game fish. Snook, Speckled Trout, and Redfish are the most sought after species, but you can also expect to hook into Spanish Mackerel, Jack Crevalle, Flounder, Bluefish, Ladyfish, and others! Fishing the shallow flats requires patience and attention to detail. Fish are spooky in water that is only a couple of feet deep. The beauty of Captain Darius' 23' Parker is that it has a shallow enough draft to get you good shots up on the flats and in the back bays and inlets, while also having enough room and stability to haul it further offshore on a nice day! All of Captain Darius' trips include ice, bottled water, tournament grade fishing gear, live bait, licenses, and fish cleaning at end of the trip. There is plenty of room in the cooler as well for your favorite snacks and drinks if you'd like to bring them along as well. Captain Darius' main pick-up location is on Siesta Key, but depending on where you are staying he can also meet up with you at Hart's Landing or Ken Thomspon Park Boat Ramp. Read More

You'll be throwing either live bait (pin fish, shrimp, blue crabs) or fishing artificial lures. From hammering the mangroves in the backwaters to stalking fish on off the beaches, Captain Mike is an expert at it all and will show you how to get on the fish. When Tarpon season is in, Tarpon trips become the most heavily desired trips Captain Mike runs, and for good reason. Between insane strength, aerial displays, and gianormous size, Tarpon are arguable one of the funnest species to chase. When the Tarpon have migrated elsewhere (October - April), your main targets for the day include Snook, Redfish, Trout, Sharks, a variety of Snapper species. Depending on the time of year don't be surprised if you catch Triple Tail, Permit, Barracuda, and Sheepsheadm and If you want to do battle with one of the biggest fish in the ocean, Captain Mike also know how to hook into Goliath Grouper! Local Hot Spots: TURTLE BAY Turtle Bay is a large bay with mostly shallow water. There are several deep spots in Turtle Bay as well, but navigation can be tricky if you don't have an experienced Captain. When in this area we will typically be catching Trout, Snook and Redfish. BULL BAY Bull Bay is an isolated, world famous fishing bay, surrounded by untouched land. Past Presidents have come to this area specifically to fish these waters. The bay is mostly shallow water, with deep pockets and pot holes. During the winter months large amounts of Snook rest in these pockets for high volume fishing. Captain Mike will provide expert advice on where the best fishing is and what species is hottest, but is most interested in doing whatever it is you'd like to do on your charter. So if there is a species you'd like to target or location you'd like to fish please leave notes when you book so Captain Mike can plan accordingly. No matter where you fish, Captain Mike has you covered with all the top-of-the-line rods, reels, tackle and lures you will need for a successful day out on the water. All he recommends you bring are your favorite snacks and drinks, sunglasses, and the desire to catch a pile of fish! Read More
