trip description for Best Day Ever Fishing in Islamorada in Islamorada

Captain Pete and his team live and breathe to fish the stunning waters of Islamorada. These waters are known for Cero Mackerel, Cobia, Black Grouper, Red Grouper, King Mackerel (Kingfish), Mangrove Snapper, Mutton Snapper, Yellowtail Snapper, Spanish Mackerel, Tripletail, Wahoo, and more – with any luck, it won't be long before "Fish on!" On these trips, you can expect to troll and bottom fish. Thinking of bringing the whole family? Kids are absolutely welcome! Children must wear life vests, so find out if the appropriate size is available on board. And, you can't go wrong with snacks so that nobody gets cranky on an empty belly! Your vessel for the day is a 37' Express cruiser with space for 6 passengers. It has and all the essentials. There's a toilet on board for your convenience. You'll find rods, reels, and tackle waiting for you, along with lures. Live bait is on offer, but you should ask the captain whether you'll be catching it yourself. There's no need to buy a fishing license, just show up ready for some fishing! Some fish have special regulations, including when you can keep them. If you don't know what to expect, ask the captain. Some essentials to bring are sunscreen (non-spray), sunglasses, and bottled water. Drinks are included, free of charge. Alcohol is allowed in moderation, just be sure to avoid hard liquor as well as glass bottles. Now's the time to experience fishing in Islamorada for yourself, so book it with Captain Pete and his team! Captain Pete also has a smaller 23' Nautic Star they use for groups of 2 or less. Depending on whether conditions, Captain Pete will offer it as an option for your group after you book to see if you’d prefer it. Fishing from a bay boat offers faster travel time before fishing spots and more mobility (shallower draft) to get to reefs that the bigger boat can’t get to. For groups of 2 you can overall just pack more into your day on the Nautic Star but its always up to you! Read More

Our trip with Anthony totally exceeded our expectations. From the moment we met him we knew we were in for a wonderful experience. His equipment is all first class and his knowledge of the back bay is extensive. After putting us on many fish and constant action, we were able to catch a beautiful snook for the dinner table and a fish that was a trophy fish of a lifetime. He then suggested a local restaurant and suggestions on how to prepare our catch. The ambiance, service and food preparation was the best meal of our entire trip. We would highly recommend Captain Anthony and love to spend more time with him whenever possible.

Had a most excellent time. We were scheduled for an offshore trip but wind and waves caused us to cancel this trip. However, we rescheduled for later in the day for a tarpon fishing excursion. This was a blast ! We saw sharks up close and landed several yellow jacks which gave us a good fight before being returned to the water. After trying and trying (never give up) we snagged a good sized tarpon. After a good fight which included multiple boat maneuvers it was brought to the side of the boat before being cut loose to fight another day. We thoroughly enjoyed the time spent with the captain and first mate. Both were very attentive to us, making sure that our hooks were still baited and that we had all the help required for landing and documenting our catches before returning them to the water. A great time was had by all! The boat was immaculate and we had no issues if any sort.

Lynn E. with Steve S. of Marathon, Florida

  • ★★★★★
We had a great full day trip with Captain Chris. Chris really helped my wife with his patience and encouragement fight big fish in deep water and use lighter tackle at the shallower wreck. She landed nice yellowtail, yellow jack, mackerel and amberjack. Chris worked hard all day keeping us in fish and rigged as the shark tax was high though the morning. At the end of the day we got great local restaurant recommendations and tips on cooking our catch. Loved the boat playlist! Highly recommend and hope to come back to fish with Chris again.

John K. with Chris P. of Islamorada, Florida

Great work Captain Phil. Had a good time on the boat and caught fish all through the 8 hour day. Even when the bite slowed down captain phil ran all over to get back on the bite. Damn great time on the water with Ben. He was willing to quickly adjust to last minute changes (remember, when you are replying to messages from Captain Experiences they might not get to the guide you are using through them). Ben got us into multiple species of fish using various methods of angling. When our time was up, we had a few "keepers" that Ben filleted up for us. It was a perfect day on the water. Thanks for the great time Ben and, more importantly, thank you for your service to our country! DO NOT HESITATE to book a trip with Ben.

I have been fishing the keys for 10 years but learned a ton fishing with Captain Troy and first mate James. We caught a 2 man limit of nice sized yellow tail in 1.5 h. Very friendly folks made for a great day ! Highly recommend!

We had the best experience with Andrew. He’s a born and raised in Key Largo local and he put us on a bunch of spots where fish were biting. He was so patient when we got tangled or lost our bait and was just in general super friendly and helpful. You can tell he spends his days on the water because there’s no place he’d rather be. And he also cleaned our fish with an amazing alacrity and gave us excellent recommendations on where we could have it cooked for us by highly acclaimed local chefs. It wasn’t just fishing, Andrew was the whole package.
