What is tripletail fishing in Biloxi all about?

Tripletail, a unique and sought-after species among anglers, inhabit the waters around Biloxi, Mississippi, offering exciting fishing opportunities for those willing to seek them out. Known for their distinct appearance and elusive nature, tripletail are often found near floating debris, buoys, and other structures where they seek refuge and ambush prey. These fish are prized for their firm, white flesh and delicious flavor, making them a desirable catch for anglers targeting them in Biloxi's coastal waters.

Anglers in Biloxi use a variety of techniques to target tripletail, including sight-fishing, trolling, and casting. Sight-fishing for tripletail is a popular and exhilarating method, especially during calm conditions when the fish can be spotted near the surface basking in the sun. Equipped with polarized sunglasses, anglers scan the water for the distinctive shape and coloration of tripletail, then cast lures or live bait ahead of the fish to entice strikes. Sight-fishing requires patience, keen observation, and accurate casting, but the reward of hooking into a tripletail is well worth the effort.

Trolling is another effective technique for targeting tripletail in Biloxi's coastal waters. Anglers troll with lures or rigged baitfish along the edges of current lines, near buoys, and around floating debris where tripletail are known to congregate. Trolling allows anglers to cover a large area of water and locate actively feeding fish, increasing their chances of success. Whether sight-fishing, trolling, or casting, anglers in Biloxi can enjoy thrilling tripletail fishing experiences against the backdrop of the city's scenic coastal landscapes.

Tripletail are commonly found in Biloxi's coastal waters from spring through fall, when water temperatures rise and baitfish become more abundant along the Gulf Coast. During these warmer months, tripletail are more active and often found near floating debris, buoys, and other structures where they seek refuge and ambush prey.

What techniques are popular for catching tripletail in Biloxi?

Fishing for tripletail in Biloxi, Mississippi, requires anglers to employ specific techniques tailored to the habits and behavior of these elusive fish. One effective method is sight-fishing, particularly during calm conditions when tripletail can be spotted near the surface basking in the sun. Equipped with polarized sunglasses, anglers scan the water for the distinct silhouette and coloration of tripletail, then carefully approach to cast lures or live bait ahead of the fish to entice strikes. Sight-fishing demands patience, keen observation, and precise casting, but the thrill of hooking into a tripletail makes it a rewarding pursuit for anglers in Biloxi.

I give captain Mark a 5 star! He is knowledgeable, friendly, and a real pleasure to do business with. Although we didn't have the pleasure of many different species of fish biting it was still worth the monies spent to be out on the water with him and his deck hand Tyler. I would recommend him 100%.

    Trip: Inshore / Nearshore Fishing!!!

We decided to book an inshore fishing trip while on vacation in Biloxi. Cole was able to take the four of us, and it was a great trip. He was prompt, courteous, very friendly, and he definitely knew where the fish were! Everything was as stated during the booking process. During the trip, he took care of all the lines, the bait, and removing the fish as we caught them. All while having good conversation. It was a great experience, with a great captain. I would definitely recommend Cole as your charter captain.
