The tributaries around lake Erie are home to some absolutely epic Steelhead fishing—probably the best in all 50 states! Kurt specializes in guided flyfishing trips here in Conneaut, Ohio, where you can enjoy three full days of incredible fishing along with delicious meals and comfortable lodging, all for one reasonable price! Because water conditions and especially rainfall have a huge impact on how the fish move and what tributaries will be fishing best, urt and all his guides personally fish these waters daily and stay on top of fish movements and water conditions to ensure you're fishing the best water. They also make sure to personalize each trip so that you can experience the thrill of late-fall hooksets on powerful Steelhead. To that end, Kurt has access to a lot of private water sections that allow for unlimited trophy catches! These leases and properties provide you with access to totally unpressured water, which means no other fishermen and more aggressive fish! Guided steelhead trips are 1 or 2 people per guide. Kurt also specialize in hosting larger fishing groups (i.e. fly fishing clubs, corporate outings, etc.) You'll need to bring your own waders, and Kurt highly recommends you test them for cracks and holes before you bring them along! Also bring rain gear and multiple layers (gloves and winter caps if the weather suggests), sunglasses, and your own fly gear if you'd like. Kurt will have rods rigged and ready to go and will supply all the flies, but loves when his clients bring their own gear as well! trip description for Lake Erie Classic Walleye Trip in Conneaut

Although Lake Erie isn't the biggest or the deepest of the Great Lakes, it certainly has some of the best fishing, with strong native stocks of Walleye, Smallmouth Bass, Perch, and more! On this trip with Captain Jim, you'll focus on hooking Walleye, which are a blast to catch as well as famously good table fare. Walleye love to hit lures right off the bottom, so you'll focus on slow-trolling to draw bites. You'll be using a variety of lures, most of which will imitate small baitfish. Captain Jim will make sure you're ready to go with the best terminal tackle; he's been fishing here for years, and he knows what to throw and where to throw it. Walleye aren't known as great fighting fish, but they're still extremely fun for anglers of all levels. In addition, they often hang out together, so getting multiple "tips down" at the same time isnt uncommon. Captain Jim runs his trips aboard his 30' Cherokee sportfisher, a beautiful vessel that's ideal for families or groups of up to six. She's fast, with twin Chevrolet Crusader engines, and comfortable, with seating and an enclosed cabin area. She also has a nice bathroom, plus all the electronics and gear you could want! Your captain will come prepared with everything you need for an awesome trip. Just bring your fishing licenses, proper clothing, and a cooler for your keepers! Read More

If you've been searching for the Lake Erie Walleye trip of a lifetime, look no further. Captain Jim is a pro when it comes to fishing Lake Erie for these gamefish, and he'll make sure that you and yours have a great time and go home with a trophy, a full cooler, or both! In order to maximize your chances of success, Captain Jim follows the fish as they migrate around the lake. In the spring, you'll fish the western basin, then move east as the water begins to warm up. In the fall, the fish head back west and eat like crazy as they prepare for the long winter. If you're looking to catch a trophy, spring and fall are the times to do it! On this trip, you'll be using a variety of lures to draw bites. Depending on the time of year, there are a several different techniques to choose from. In the spring, you'll employ diving crank baits that can find Walleye down in the deep, cold water. Towards the middle of the summer, you'll focus on trolling higher in the water column. As the season progresses, you may switch to spoons or other lures depending on what's getting the bite. Captain Jim will make sure to get you set up with the best tackle, no matter the season! Although Walleye arent known as huge fighters, they're widely regarded as some of the best freshwater eating fish out there! When you're fishing with Captain Jim, he'll make sure you head home with a cooler full of dinner. You'll be fishing out there aboard his 22' Bayliner cuddy cabin, a fast boat that's ideal for trolling, with an enclosed cabin to keep you comfortable all day. She also runs a 230-HP Volvo inboard engine so you'll be out there in the blink of an eye! You'll be provided with everything you need for a blue-ribbon fishing trip; all you need to bring is proper clothing for the weather, your Ohio fishing licenses, and a good attitude! Read More

Kurt specializes in guided flyfishing trips on some of the most productive waters in the Lower 48. There are so many fish in the fall and winter months that these trips are much more about enjoying your time on the water, with good company, the fish will follow suit! Where you'll be fishing depends on the water conditions and the time of year. Kurt and his team will do their best to personalize your trip and meet any specific needs you may have. Water conditions and especially rainfall have a huge impact on how the fish move and what tributaries will be fishing best luckily for you, Kurt and all his guides personally fish these waters daily and stay on top of fish movements and water conditions to ensure you're fishing the best water. If you've been looking for a top-tier sportfishing trip here on Lake Erie, you're in the right place! Many people don't know that the Great Lakes are home to some of the biggest, baddest freshwater sportfish in the USA, and there's no better way to hook some up than a trip with Captain Jim. On this trip, you'll chase big Steelhead on trolling gear. Steelhead are really a lake-run Rainbow Trout, but due to their diet of baitfish (rather than bugs), they get much larger and fiestier than their river-living cousins. You'll hunt these fish using a variety of baits and lures on trolling gear. Steelhead love whacking troll lines, and when one of these fish takes the hook, expect a big fight. With strong runs and big jumps, Steelhead are the hardest-fighting fish in the Great Lakes.
