trip description for Charleston, SC Offshore in Mount Pleasant

The ocean is big. Really, really big. You never quite know what might jump on your hook, but we'll always have a plan based on season, weather and your interests. Some days that plan calls for running a couple of hours to deep water to troll and staying on it all day after mahi, tuna, king mackerel or even billfish. Other days call for finding active bottom and hunting sea bass, snapper and grouper. Others, my personal favorite, combine the two. Throw in a cobia or a shark now and again and it's always interesting. Just remember, try as we may, it's still called "fishing", not "catching". We'll also decide early what you may wish to take home. Billfish and sharks, we'll release to catch again another day and to keep our ecosystems healthy. What you wish to keep, we'll be happy to clean and bag for you, and even offer some suggestions on how to prepare if you'd like. For the 2024 season, a 12 hour offshore or combined trip is $2,950. 6 hour nearshore trips are $1,900. 6 passengers maximum, includes bait, tackle, ice, fishing license, soft drinks and water. Does not include alcohol, food or gratuity for the hardworking Mate. Prices subject to fuel surcharge in response to price spikes. Read More

trip description for Trolling Trips with Captain Brad in Mount Pleasant

Launch aboard Captain Brad's fully decked out 26' Center Console for a first-class and productive Trolling experience out of historic Charleston SC. With a background in the US Coast Guard and a resulting 10+ years of experience fishing the Atlantic Coast all the way from Maine down to the Florida Keys, Captain Brad will put all of his knowledge toward getting you on the fish safely and in style! Captain Brad usually likes to launch from the WO Thomas Jr. Boat Landing by the Westmoreland bridge, but there is no need to waste your time hailing an uber or fretting showing up on time, if transportation is a problem Brad is more than happy to come to pick you up! Just let us know where you'd like to be picked up from. Either way, after you get settled in, and Captain brad starts up his twin 150 Yamahas, you will motor out a couple of miles offshore to do some Trolling and fish catching. Trolling trips are great because the boat and the knowledge of your captain do the "boring" part for you. You get to sit back, relax, enjoy the sweet sea breeze while you wait for the reel to start screaming! These trips can be extremely productive as well. If you get into a pod of Wahoo, King Mackerel, or Mahi, Captain Brad will just keep circling back to catch more and more, until you've caught your limit or your arms get too tired. Wahoo, King Mackerel, and Mahi Mahi, are just a couple of the potential species you could catch while you're out there, and there are plenty more species the productive waters of the Atlantic can offer up! You are welcome to get as involved as you would like with your adventure as well, whether you'd rather lounge and chat with the lovely company you've brought on board, or scan the horizon looking for birds or fish activity to help out your Captain, Captain Brad will make sure you have a fantastic time either way. Beyond superior service and luxurious amenities, Captain Brad also provides the best rods, reels, tackle, bait, and fishing licenses you could possibly need for a successful day out on the water. Thus, all you need to bring is your favorite lunch, snack, and drink, your sun protection, maybe a towel, and some good company! Otherwise, Captain Brad will take care of the rest to make the most of your Charleston Trolling adventure! Read More

Launch aboard Captain TJ's fully decked out 26' Center Console for a dusk-til-dawn fishing experience out of Charleston SC. Captain TJ will put all of his knowledge of fish habits, sea trends, and weather patterns toward getting you on these reef fish safely and in style! On this 12-hour trip, Captain TJ will keep you within 90 miles of the Charleston coast where you'll be going after some Amberjack, Blackfin Tuna, Cobia, Gag Grouper, King Mackerel, Mahi Mahi, Vermillion Snapper, and Wahoo. You'll mainly be bottom fishing or trolling on this trip. Whether you want to actively fish with rod-in-hand or lounge until a reel starts screaming, just let Captain TJ know and he'll get you set up with the best method and provide some expert instruction to make sure you get one on your line! Trolling trips are great because the boat and the knowledge of your captain do the "boring" part for you. Captain TJ will drop the throttle down to a couple knots and start surveying the horizon for birds and grass lines. The grass lines can provide structure for pelagics to congregate around and birds are usually an indicator of bait on the surface! Wahoo, King Mackerel, and Mahi Mahi, are just a couple of the potential species you could catch while you're out there, and there are plenty more species the productive waters of the Atlantic can offer up! When you go bottom fishing you'll hit the reefs, wrecks, and deepwater structures for some delicious table fare that puts up a fight! On these trips, you will be using heavy tackle rods and weighted live bait or jig hooks that you'll drop down into the murky depths of the Atlantic. You can expect to hook into a variety of Snapper and Grouper species like Red Snapper, Lane Snapper, Vermillion Snapper, Red Grouper and Gag Grouper, but you never know what the murky depths of the Atlantic will produce! Fishing the reefs you can also catch an occasional Amberjack, and Cobia just to name a few, and there are plenty more species the productive waters of the Atlantic can offer up! The boat you'll be fishing from is a 26-foot Mako 264. A true battle wagon designed for hardcore offshore fishing. She's equipped with twin 200 HP Suzuki engines, outriggers, VHF radio, Garmin radar, GPS, sonar satellite radio, bathroom, live wells, fishing boxes, sink, and top-of-the-line fishing equipment. Beyond superior service and a stylish ride, Captain TJ also provides the best rods, reels, tackle, bait, and fishing licenses you could possibly need for a successful day out on the water. Thus, all you need to bring is your favorite lunch, snack, and drink, your sun protection, maybe a towel, and your camera! Is booking a fishing guide worth the money?

Hiring a guide provides a number of benefits and many choose to book a fishing guide for a combination of experience, local knowledge, convenience, and cost-effectiveness.

Working with experienced fishing guides who know the best local spots and techniques can dramatically increase your odds of a great day. Having someone who is on the water every day and knows the area like the back of their hand is going to give you the best chances of success.

Booking a guide is also more cost effective, especially if you only get out a handful of times per year. When you consider all of the costs you would incur on your own such as the price of a boat, maintenance, insurance, gas, high-quality gear and tackle, repairs, and more, you’ll find that DIY is sometimes not worth the expense.

Even if you’ve got a great setup already in your home waters, booking a guide also provides a great opportunity to experience new techniques, new locations, or even a chance at a new target species to knock off the bucket list.

Captain Brent did an awesome job on our charter! Captain Brent is all around good people and he went above and beyond to put us on some fish! At the end of the day not only did we have a blast but we left feeling like we had made a friend for life. We will 100 percent be coming back in the future.
