trip description for Charleston, SC Offshore in Mount Pleasant

The ocean is big. Really, really big. You never quite know what might jump on your hook, but we'll always have a plan based on season, weather and your interests. Some days that plan calls for running a couple of hours to deep water to troll and staying on it all day after mahi, tuna, king mackerel or even billfish. Other days call for finding active bottom and hunting sea bass, snapper and grouper. Others, my personal favorite, combine the two. Throw in a cobia or a shark now and again and it's always interesting. Just remember, try as we may, it's still called "fishing", not "catching". We'll also decide early what you may wish to take home. Billfish and sharks, we'll release to catch again another day and to keep our ecosystems healthy. What you wish to keep, we'll be happy to clean and bag for you, and even offer some suggestions on how to prepare if you'd like. For the 2024 season, a 12 hour offshore or combined trip is $2,950. 6 hour nearshore trips are $1,900. 6 passengers maximum, includes bait, tackle, ice, fishing license, soft drinks and water. Does not include alcohol, food or gratuity for the hardworking Mate. Prices subject to fuel surcharge in response to price spikes. Read More

The world is your oyster when you book this 10 Hour excursion with Captain Linus. After you meet up with Captain Linus at the dock, you guys can go over your game plan for the day. Whether you and your captain decide to go offshore, stay in nearshore, or hit the reefs will depend on the weather conditions, the tides, and of course your personal preference. You can even talk with your Captain about hitting multiple areas for a trolling/bottom fishing combo. Captain Linus will provide expert advice on what will be fishing the best that day so listen carefully and heed his advice when deciding how you'd like to spend your day. No matter what you and Linus decide, he will help you load up and store whatever you've brought on board, and make sure you're comfortable! After you get settled in one of the many comfy seats, Captain Linus will start up his triplet 300HP Mercury Verados and you will motor out a couple of miles offshore to do some trolling, bottom fishing, and relaxing. Offshore trips usually involve a lot of trolling and target Marlin, Sailfish, Blackfin Tuna, Wahoo, and Dolphin (Mahi-Mahi). Nearshore trips can include a mix of trolling for King and Spanish Mackerel, and bottom fishing the Reefs for Snapper Species and Black Seabass. Targeting the nearshore Reefs, in particular, can result in Cobia and Amberjack as well! Beyond superior service and luxurious amenities, Captain Linus will provide you with top-of-the-line rods, reels, tackle, and bait, specific to whatever type of fishing you'd like to do that day, along with a cooler full of ice and water, and all necessary fishing licenses you will need for a successful day out on the water. All Captain Linus suggests you bring is your sunscreen, hat, sunglasses, lunch, and any snacks and drinks you'd like to have on board. With these items in tow, Captain Linus will have you "Catchin, Cruisin, and Chillin" in no time! Read More

Is booking a fishing guide worth the money?

Hiring a guide provides a number of benefits and many choose to book a fishing guide for a combination of experience, local knowledge, convenience, and cost-effectiveness.

Working with experienced fishing guides who know the best local spots and techniques can dramatically increase your odds of a great day. Having someone who is on the water every day and knows the area like the back of their hand is going to give you the best chances of success.

Booking a guide is also more cost effective, especially if you only get out a handful of times per year. When you consider all of the costs you would incur on your own such as the price of a boat, maintenance, insurance, gas, high-quality gear and tackle, repairs, and more, you’ll find that DIY is sometimes not worth the expense.

Even if you’ve got a great setup already in your home waters, booking a guide also provides a great opportunity to experience new techniques, new locations, or even a chance at a new target species to knock off the bucket list.
