While we don't provide packaging of birds, we encourage you to savor some of your harvest as we donate all our birds to a local Indian community for food and use in their ceremonies. Schedule: We prefer first time guests to arrive before 6pm the first night to get settled in at the lodge and to see the grounds in preparation for the next morning hunt. Day 1 - Morning Hunt We depart for our hunting location around 8am. Brunch served mid morning. We will usually hunt until noon, of course that is dependent on reaching bag limits. Day 1 - Afternoon Hunt Hunting usually resumes around 1:30pm and we will continue to hunt until limits are reached, hunters are ready to "call it a day" or legal shooting time expires. Day 1 - Dinner & Festivities Dinner is prepared and served to all guests. If time allows and parties desire we will gather around the fire pit or football game to celebrate and tell stories of the day. Day 2 - Morning Hunt Head out for our hunting location around 8am. Blake's combo duck and hog hunts combine the excitement of duck hunting in the morning with the thrill of hog hunting in the evening, for a garrunteed unforgettable adventure in the heart of North Texas. Blake and his team are based in Montague county in North Texas, and offer these badass duck hunting/hog hunting combo trips on their surrounding properties and leases. The duck hunts start at legal shooting time and are usually wrapped-up by 9:00 or so but you can hunt till 10:00 if you haven't reached your limit. They hunt only private lakes, most of which are on farms and hold lots and lots of ducks and geese. They have access to and hunt over 60 lakes, starting in the Bowie/Bellevue area and headed north to the Red River. Blake and his team will take care of the decoys, the dogs, and the blinds. All you need to bring is your camo, shotguns, shells and snacks and drinks. Feel free to bring your own duck calls as well if you'd like. Never hurts to bring them! After wrapping up the morning duck hunt, they extend the adventure to include an evening hog-hunting leg of the trip, so you can make the most out of your time in North Texas. Blake and his team will guide you to prime hog hunting locations in the same area. North Texas is known for its abundant hog population, providing an excellent opportunity to add some thrilling hog hunting to your trip. The majority of our duck hunt are conducted over playa lakes which are shallow depressions that fill by rainfall. Most are no more than 2 feet deep and can range in size from 1 to 10+ acres. Duck hunts are conducted during the morning only as we have found that afternoon hunts are not very productive. It is possible, given the right conditions to hunt ducks in dry fields. We hunt our ducks with full body floater decoys and hide in layout blinds, A-frames, and laying under goose decoys. We will decide witch method will work the best given the circumstances. Normally you will have the chance to kill some bonus geese and cranes. Morning duck/afternoon crane hunts are a awesome way to spend a day in the Texas panhandle. Recommended shot sizes for ducks are #2-#6 shot. If you have your own private party then feel free to bring your dog but do so at your own risk. We have seen dogs ruin a hunt and if it happens we will not be responsible. If you are on a mixed party hunt under no circumstances may you bring your dog. This would be potentially unfair to the others on your hunt. Duck hunting in the panhandle is complicated, yet rewarding, Our ducks roost over water and often times feed in grain fields. We hunt the ducks when they return to water witch is usually in the very early morning so be prepared! Given the right cloudy, cold conditions we are able to hunt them in the dry fields where they feed. The most common choice is a 12 ga with 3" shells and #2 steel shot with an improved cylinder or modified choke. People have had success with 20 gauges. Full chokes and large shot are not needed. They actually hurt your chances as your pattern will be very small at the typical ranges we shoot at. Hevi -Shot and similar products are great and will really smack the birds but they are not necessary. We are hunting wild birds and nothing is for sure. Also many times shots are missed. Many people are not used to shooting with heavy clothes on or from a reclined position. Even though geese and cranes are large birds they have a relatively small kill zone and you need to be on target to bring them down. No matter how good the hunting is there is going to be the occasional bad day. That being said we want you to be happy. If for some reason you have an unsuccessful goose hunt due to our error then you will have the option of paying half price and walking away, or paying full price and coming back for free another day. Unsuccessful hunts will be determined by the staff on a case by case basis. Often times the success of a hunt can not be judged on the bag. If a party has plenty of shooting opportunities at birds that are in range but does not have a large bag then it is not an unsuccessful hunt. On average 95% of goose hunts shoot 2 or more birds per person and 90% shoot limits. In the past 6 years we have only had 3 hunts that did not shoot a single bird. Read More

What makes our duck hunting so special is that there are no Federal Wild Life Refugees located in our very own Central flyway from Canada to Texas. We feel this make a positive impact on the number of ducks available each season in our managed hunting areas. One of the biggest differences with our guided duck hunts is the annual Mallard Duck Migration we see happen each season over the entire North West Texas region. The Mallard Migration occurs around the middle of November and generally lasts until the first substantial freezing weather event. When this migration occurs, there are huge numbers of Mallard Ducks on nearly every spot of water that our managed properties hold. Limit duck hunting happens very quickly when these conditions occur and the fun factor is high. The majority of our duck hunts occur over managed stock tanks/ponds. We manage these locations to make sure they are not over hunted or pressured. This is why some of our duck hunts occur anywhere over a seven county area of North West Texas. Our guide network is always scouting for bird concentrations all season long. We maintain year long conservation programs on all our managed hunting properties. This is done to ensure your group a great outdoor experience. Several of our hunting guides are full time ranchers and farmers that work the very land we hunt on. Who is better to know where the game is, than a guy running farm equipment all year long and managing the land, conservation and livestock. While the area’s we hunt are a solid distance from all major cities. We feel the remoteness and rural feel of this North West Texas location, combined with its agricultural focus, make this a great area to build life long memories of good times in the field hunting Ducks. Lodging- Meals Schedule, for a typical weekend two day guided hunting package we provide one meal (Dinner) upon arrival Friday Evening and three meals Saturday (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner) and one meal Sunday (Breakfast) for a total of five meals per person. We hunt Saturday & Sunday Morning with guest departure after the hunt is completed by Sunday early afternoon. Generally until limits are achieved or at 12 Noon on Sunday. THE LODGE Sleeps up to 12 The lodge, purchased in 2010, has been fully refurbished and out fitted for modern living since the building's humble beginnings as a Methodist Church. The expansive main room features game tables, flat screen TV and full kitchen, perfect for private parties & receptions. The ground floor features laundry and two full bathrooms for men & women, including rain shower heads and multiple stalls. Downstairs, you'll find five individual bedrooms with bunk beds, twin beds and queen beds, depending on the room. THE COOKHOUSE Sleeps up to 6 Located just across the street from the Lodge, the Cookhouse is a smaller building that boasts a gourmet kitchen including two ovens, two refrigerators and a standing freezer. The main room is lined with tables to accommodate the hunters and cowboys who gather to dine here three times a day.
