Captain Mike: South Padre Fishing Report. The bay fishing is on right now and should only get better throughout the next month. The shrimp and baitfish are migrating into our bay system and the fish are actively hunting them. The speckled trout and redfish are on the move looking for easy meals. This is in my opinion one of the best times of the year to target speckled trout with artificial baits and live baits. Typically the high spring winds will start to die off towards the end of May and early June. This weather combined with the influx of the spring bait migration leads to some good fishing. It's a great time to introduce the kids to some fishing action. Schools of black drum should also magically show up soon. My schedule is filling up for summer so you may want to pick some dates.
This spring fishing has started off to a good start. Water temperatures range from the high 50s to the low 70s depending on the weather week to week. Once water temperatures stabilize the bite should be more consistent. Spanish mackerel have been found inshore and outside of the pass; easily targeted on a four hour trip trolling and using live bait, incoming tides seem to be producing greater numbers of Spanish mackerel. Offshore, triggerfish have been very active. Several keeper size triggerfish have been caught. The Vermilion snapper bite has began to become very consistent, and their table fair is...

Several Gag grouper have been caught and safely released. The Gulf is coming alive and this season is shaping up to be one for the books.

If you want to have a great time and catch lots of fish, look no further!! This was such a fun experience for our family of 4. Captain Heath was the best guide ever!! We caught lots of fish and even got a chance to do a little snorkeling. We had the best time and will definitely be booking with him again asap!
Captain David was really friendly and had the knowledge it took to catch fish. He took extra time to show/teach 9 year old grandson how to catch 4 different species of saltwater fish. Thanks again captain.
Had an amazing day with Jordan, he was great with my older kids and we caught a lot of fish! He helped filet our catch of the day which was so delicious. We would hire Jordan again when we return to fish in Destin!
Brought my kids on the trip. Craig and crew were very accommodating and assisted family so I could also catch fish. Very friendly and highly recommend if bringing a family with mixed age group. Caught many snapper and get a few larger fish, grouper, Bonita, amber jack.
I will be looking up Craig for my next fishing trip in Destin.
We had a great experience with CPT. Kyle, he kept us on the fish. Ben, his deck hand was amazing and helped out tremendously. Definitely recommend this crew and boat. My family and I had a blast.
Captain Tim was awesome. We did 4 hrs with 3 kids. We were all beginners. He was a good teacher and very patient. Will definitely charter with him again!
