Sight fishing in the panhandle is an exhilarating experience that should be on any angler's bucket list! Whether you're a seasoned pro or a novice, it's a great way to fish and provides a unique challenge! The opportunity to see your "prey "before casting your line is an entirely different experience from blind casting, and it requires both speed and accuracy to be successful. On this trip with Captain Scott, you'll be heading out to chase all the panhandle classics: Redfish, jack cravalle, tarpon. To make the most of your trip, it's important to come prepared. Captain Scott will provide the gear and the expertise, but it's recommended that you practice your cast before coming down. There's nothing worse than hearing "Tarpon, eleven o'clock!" and not being able to successfully place the fly or the lure. Bring your "A game" and a great attitude, as sight fishing requires focus and perseverance. The "double haul" technique is especially useful in these conditions, as it allows for longer and more accurate casts. If you're new to fishing or bringing someone who is, let your guide know ahead of time so they can tailor the trip to your skill level. Overall, a sight fishing the panhandle is an unforgettable experience that combines the beauty of the Florida with the thrill of the chase. With the right preparation and a little luck, you'll have the opportunity to land some of the most sought-after game fish in the world. So bring your gear, your enthusiasm, and your sense of adventure, and get ready for an incredible day on the water! Read More

30A Fly Fishing And Light Tackle

NEW
18 ft 1 - 2 People From $250 / person

No matter the time of year, there is always something to catch in Destin FL! Captain Jonathan has been fishing these waters year-round and is an expert on fish habits through changing seasons. For these winter trips inshore, banner days can be had on Redfish, Trout, and Flounder. Most of the redfish are going to be slot-sized and limits can certainly be had. Big bull reds are slightly fewer and further between often lurking in the open water. To chase these, Captain Jonathan will scout the bays and shorelines for birds corralling schools of baitfish. These giant reds like to sit under these schools and get an easy meal. You can also target Bluefish, Mangrove Snapper, and the occasional Shark in the inshore water this time of year. If the weather permits, make your way into the nearshore waters to go after some Amberjack, Cobia, Goliath Grouper, Jack Crevalle, King Mackerel, Mahi Mahi, and various Snapper species. You can use a variety of techniques to target these fish, and this vessel is equipped to handle bottom fishing, drift fishing, heavy tackle, jigging, light tackle, and trolling. Just let Captain Jonathan know what you want to catch and he'll get you squared away with the best method! Captain Jonathan will meet you at the dock with a fully loaded 22' Cape Horn bay boat. Powered by a 250 HP Evinrude engine, this sturdy vessel will have no problem maneuvering the inshore Destin waters. She's equipped with a GPS, Fishfinder, a Live Bait Well, Multimedia System, Wireless Trolling Motor, and an Ice Box to store your catches. Captain Jonathon will even clean any keepers you bring in at the dock. Captain Jonathan will provide all Rods, Reels, Tackle, Bait and Fishing licenses you will need for a wonderful fall day out on the water. You can expect temps to be in the 40-60 degree range in the wintertime so make sure you bring a jacket and your favorite snacks and drinks. Captain Wayne was great. First place we stopped, three of the four of us had bites on our 1st cast. Two reeled in fish within 3 minutes.

My som (age 10) and I went out this morning on a 4-hour charter, and we had a fantastic time! Super clean boat with plenty of room, and he knew all the best spots for redfish and trout. Captain Josh was great with my son, and I wouldn't hesitate to book with him again.

All I can say it that it was interesting. Our trip was scheduled from 7-10am and we boarded his boat a little before 7. Instead of having the bait ready, we took a 20 minute boat ride so he could buy bait for the day. It went downhill from there. We basically fished 3 places on Destin bay that even a guy who had never been on the bay could've chosen. A grass bed by the coast guard station, a rock jetty and bridge pilings. We boated zero fish from these spots. The final spot was fishing a cove that was basically 2 feet deep of crystal clear water and obviously we caught nothing there. At that point he did offer to go back to the grass bed but I had seen enough of his guiding abilities to know we were done. After a long boat ride back, in his anger, at full throttle thru relatively rough water, we get back to the dock. He asks for payment and I ask him what he thinks is fair. He states full price is what he thinks is fair. I told him that was really BS but didn't hesitate to provide the QR code for payment. After scanning the code I mentioned to him that he might want to pursue a different line of work since he obviously wasn't very good at finding catchable fish. I have seen better equipment at garage sales too. Half the reels didn't work properly and we all had issues with that. All of that aside, we paid in full but I did not tip him and we started our drive home. At this point I started to receive nasty texts from Seth Litton. He said he was going to tell all the captains in the Destin area to never take me or my family out on a guided fishing trip. He called me a cheapskate for not tipping. It was unreal. I received 3 nasty texts in all even after I told him to cease contact with me. I know there are some good guides out there. Anyone can catch fish on a good day. Guides are paid good money to at least catch a few on bad days. And in the rare event you don't, and it has happened in the many times I have done this, they will always offer you a future discount on a trip or discount the trip you just took. Neither of these happened. Looking back, from the poor equipment, the fact he didn't even catch local water bait, the places we fished, etc., I should've known this guy just simply wasn't up to the task. It's a shame it cost me 550.00 to learn that. Due to all of this I will probably never take a trip sponsored by Captain Experiences again. People will say there are 2 sides to every story but what I have stated here is 100% factual truth.

Great to work with, answered all questions we had for him. Very nice and prompt in what he was doing, kept the party active and ready to fish. Encouraged us along the way, would refer him to anyone and look forward to hopefully enjoying some fishing again with him one day!

We had A stellar day on the water with Captain Seth. He was at the dock ready to go when we arrived. The night before he had suggested we skip the bay and fish the gulf which ended up being the right choice. The day was beautiful with 2-3 foot swells. We saw dolphin on the way. We enjoyed the ride out to the first fishing spot with Seth providing insights to the area as well as giving us a rundown on the day and the fish we would be catching. Before Captain Seth could grab the second pole, my son was already pulling up the first fish, a large red snapper. Out of season, bummer! That set the tone. We caught fish all day and ate a portion of it that night. The 5 of us on the boat all took turns at brining in Amber Jacks and we were able to keep the two biggest ones. More than once we had 3 poles with fish on at the same time. Two poles with fish on to many times to count. Seth was fun to be with. He was attentive and personable. It was a blast watching him help my daughter bring a large amber jack. It was a great day with my family and captain Seth. I will recommend him to my family and friends. A great way to spend the day away from the crowds. Loved it.
