The trolling bite has been amazing, plenty of Spanish mackerel to be caught. Bottom fishing has been a good variety like Vermillion, red snappers, black snappers, red groupers scamp groupers and Triggerfish!

Santa Rosa Beach, Florida

Spring break fishing along the Emerald Coast has been nothing short of outstanding, and our recent trips out of Santa Rosa Beach and Destin, Florida, have delivered consistent action for anglers of all experience levels. The biggest headline has been the new Okaloosa nearshore FADs (Fish Aggregating Devices), which are already producing exceptional results. These shallow water fish attracting devices have been holding strong numbers of mahi mahi, giving us steady offshore-style action just a short run from the beach. Clients have been thrilled with the opportunity to target pelagic species without needing a full-day trip.

Closer to shore, the
Spanish mackerel bite has been on fire inside Destin Harbor and along the Destin jetties. This has been a perfect option for families and spring breakers looking for fast-paced action, with multiple hook-ups and nonstop rod-bending activity. We've also been finding quality mahi mahi on weedlines within 5 miles of the beach, another great sign that our spring pelagic season is ramping up early this year. These fish have been eager to bite and provide excellent table fare for our crews. For anglers booking our 6-hour trips, the bottom fishing has been just as consistent. We've been putting together solid catches of red grouper, giving clients a great mix of offshore action and dependable bottom fishing. Looking Ahead: April Pelagic Season Heating Up. As we move deeper into April, everything is lining up for an incredible spring pelagic fishing season along the 30A and Destin coastline. Historically, this is when the fishing really takes off,” and we're already seeing early signs of what's to come. Over the past several seasons, we have consistently produced tuna and marlin catches around the FADs throughout April and May, and we expect this year to be no different. With warming water temperatures and increasing bait activity, the Gulf is coming alive. Whether you're targeting mahi mahi, tuna, or even a shot at a billfish, now is the time to get on the schedule.

We definitely had a good trip with Captain harold. He put us on fish all day long on our 10hr trip. We caught a lot of fish between the 6 of us at every location captain harold stopped us at. We recommend this guide to anyone who wants to have fun catching fish.

Was a great experience for my inexperienced family. First we caught bait fish jigging a little offshore. Using a 5 hook rig almost every time we hooked multiple fish. Catching 4 to 5 was not uncommon. Then we went about 8 miles offshore to fish in about 90’ of water. Everyone caught fish. Just a note that catching a 24” amberjack in 90’ of water will wear a person out. Though we caught lots of fish only had 3 of keeper size. My entire group said they would do it again.

We had a great time with Jonathan. He was patient with us three amateurs and put us on some nice redfish. My grandson who is 7 had a blast catching his first redfish. Thanks again.

James was a great Captain and we really enjoyed our time with him! We were hoping to be able to have more fish to take home with us but I know that some days are better than others when fishing. It was an overall really good experience!

Honestly, we were very disappointed in our trip. The beginning was fine. As time went on, David ‘s language was a bit rough with choice words that we didn’t need to hear. His driving of the boat in rough water was way too fast and both of our backs are still hurting a week later . And we may be a bit older- but both in good shape. At the end of the trip- just had us casting in grass. Never been on a trip where at least cold bottles of water weren’t offered or available . Would never recommend. Expensive trip for a few fish and not as we have experienced before on other fishing outings. We did give a nice tip 20% because that’s who we are . Wish him the best in the future.
