Get out there on one of Texas' most scenic rivers for a two-day, one-night overnight fly-fishing adventure! Your guide, Ben, is a terrific angler and a master instructor who knows this water better than almost anyone. Whether you're a season fly fisherman or looking to up your game, this trip is perfect for you. Unlike most fly-fishing trips that target Trout, Ben specializes in catching Bass on the fly. In addition, you'll be able to chase bites from tons of freshwater species, including Catfish, Crappie, Gar, Drum, and more! These fish are a blast to fight on a flyrod, and can really help improve your casting technique, hookset, and more. On this overnight trip, you'll be treated like a king, with three meals a day, excellent camping accommodations, and a tailored experience that you can make all your own. Breakfasts and lunches will be light to keep you moving, but dinners are extremely hearty, with pork osso buco, venison barbacoa, and tons of other game-forward meals on offer. In addition, wine and liquor of your choice are available! Give us a call and let us help you book the Texas fly-fishing trip of a lifetime! Read More

Enjoy this trip on one of North Texas' most beautiful rivers—the Brazos. You'll be in a perfect place to catch over ten species of freshwater sportfish, all while surrounding yourself with some of the best scenery this part of the state has to offer. From November to February, Texas Parks and Wildlife stocks this section of the Brazos with Rainbow Trout, so you can get a Rocky Mountain fly fishing experience without having to leave the state. This trip is a great "mixed bag" adventure, and because Bass, Trout, Gar, Cats, and Crappie all eat some of the same bugs, you never know what species is going to blow up your fly! Wade trips are also a great way for you to work on technique by receiving specific, one-on-one instruction from a professional fly fishing guide. Your guide, Ben, will provide everything you need for an epic trip, including rods, reels, tippet, and flies. The fish are biting—what are you waiting for?! Read More

Float into the water with Greg for an exciting fly-fishing adventure on some beautiful Texas rivers! On this 4 to 8-hour fly-fishing trip, Greg will float you out on the Brazos River, a smaller tributary such as the Paluxy River, or one of the many of the area lakes. Here, he'll give you some of his expert fly fishing tips as you target several fish species including Largemouth Bass, Spotted Bass, Smallmouth Bass, Striped Bass, Hybrid Striped Bass, White Bass, and a variety of the Sunfish species. There is even Carp, Smallmouth Buffalo, Freshwater Drum and Gar. No matter your experience level, from beginners to experienced, Greg is passionate about making your day on the water one to remember. Whether it’s floating the scenic Brazos River, wading the “hill country like” Paluxy River, or taking you out on one of many picturesque lakes, Greg will guide you to a Texas sized, fun filled, fly fishing trip of a lifetime! Depending on conditions and where the fishing is the best, Greg will choose from a couple of options for the best way to go. You'll either be aboard a custom 16 1/2 foot Hog Island Skiff with a Jet Motor or a 14 foot Aire Raft equipped with an Outcast fishing system. These vessels are very stable and comfortable, and are great for getting through shallow water. Greg will provide flies, leaders & tippet, fly rods & reels (available by request, please make arrangements prior to your trip), drinks, snacks and will even do some expert photography to leave you with some pictures! Lunches will be provided on the full day trips as well. All you need to bring is a valid Texas freshwater fishing license, and we recommend polarized sun glasses, a hat, rain gear & clothing for the season and sunscreen. You are welcome to bring our own fly rod and reel. He recommends a 4-6 weight Fly Rod for wade trips on smaller waters such as the Paluxy River. However, on the Brazos River or one of the many area Lakes, he prefers a 6-8 weight Fly Rod. Big flies allow opportunities to catch some bigger fish but require a heavier fly line. Big fish are also easier to control and land on a 6-8 weight fly rod. In terms of lines, he recommends floating, weight forward and shorter taper fly lines. On the Brazos River and some of the lake areas, there are times when an intermediate sink, or sink tip and full sinking lines are best. Enjoy your day on the water and catch some fish with Greg! Fishing in Leaday
trip description for 3 Days of O.H. Ivie Magic in Leaday

This trip consists of three consecutive 8 hour fishing days on O.H. Ivie Lake. This trip is limited to 1-2 passenger trips. All tackle is included in the trip cost, but I do not provide food and lodging accommodations. Located on the Colorado and Concho Rivers in Concho, Coleman, and Runnels counties, and 55 miles east of San Angelo, O.H. Ivie has a surface area of 19,149 acres and reaches depths of 119 feet. The water level at O.H. Ivie is known to fluctuate about 6-10 ft annually, however. It is one of Texas’s newer reservoirs only having been impounded in 1990. It is considered a classic looking Texas lake full of lots of flooded brush and timber along with various types of aquatic vegetation growing in it. The water clarity is typically clear on the main lake and Concho arm, while it can be a bit more turbid in the Colorado arm. The primary cover is the standing timber found through much of O.H. Ivie. When the lake was impounded, they did not clear the trees and brush from the river basin, so there are thousands of acres of brush and trees found throughout the lake. Various species of native aquatic vegetation and hydrilla are found in various areas of the lake. The primary structure found on the main body of O.H. Ivie is rock, and then simply mud flats when you get up into the river arms. In recent years, this lake has become known as one of the best places to potentially bag a 13 plus pound bass in the world. It’s no secret that the majority of the bass this size are getting caught during the winter months, which is when I offer trips here. As such, I can’t really comment on the fishing here during other times of the year. Having said all of that, don’t expect to come here in the winter and catch a bunch of bass. The anglers who are catching the majority of the 13 plus pound bass are highly skilled anglers that are dedicated to spending several days on the water in search of that one bite. Now, if you want to come here and just have fun catching bass using traditional bass fishing methods, you can do that as well, but your odds of catching the monster 13 plus pound bass are much slimmer. Traditional bass fishing methods out here do have a decent chance of catching a very large 8-11 lb bass, however, and you can have a good day catching decent numbers of bass. Read More

I have fished all over the world and been a guide myself for many years and I would highly recommend the fishing experience Captain Russell provides. If you are wanting to take your family out for a great afternoon of fishing Captain Russell is who you need to book with hands down. He had us on fish early and often despite the windy conditions. My youngest, who is 7, caught his personal best on this trip. We will definitely be back to fish with Captain Russell again!
