trip description for Devil's River Kayak Adventure in Devils River

Spend five days and four nights out on Devil's River fishing for Smallmouth and Largemouth Bass with your guide, Shane. Shane will share his intimate knowledge of fishing and paddle craft, as he provides you with the opportunity to fish for a wide variety of Texas' most popular fresh water game fish. The Devil's River is one of the best Smallmouth Bass fisheries in Texas, and although it's an intense paddle, it's absolutely worth it. The trip will begin by meeting with Shane and his shuttle driver, JD, the first morning. JD will then take you and Shane to the river, where you'll launch by 8:30am and get started. You'll spend all day fishing, and enjoy a camp every night complete with meals and a cozy fire. Shane will take care of all of the gear and set up for camps and meals. The trip will end by once again meeting up with JD to take you back. All of Shane's kayaks are also completely customized for fishing, with special fishing rigs and seats to keep you comfortable for the entire trip. He also has canoes that can be used if preferred, if there's a large group with extra gear, or if there are kids who aren't quite ready for the kayak. All you need is a Texas fishing license, clothing, toiletries, and a bed roll, and Shane will be ready to take you on an adventure! Read More

Spring Fishing report: Several lakes are fishing good right now in the central Texas area. We are catching 15-30 or more on a half day trip on Travis, Decker, LBJ and Buchanan. There are other lakes doing good as well. There are fish shallow and deep, but the big fish are shallow right now as they are spawning or close to it. If you are after that fish of a lifetime or just bigger fish, Lake Falcon and Choke Canyon is producing some great quality fish right now. It's always a great time to get that child on some fish. I would be happy to help you do that so book your trip today! Read More

trip description for Big Swim Baits for Big A** Bass in Austin

Learn to catch giant Largemouth with one of the best in the business as you head out with Grant on a half-day or full-day outing on Lake Austin or Lady Bird Lake (Lake Austin is the Land of the Giants by the way). Grant specializes in throwing big swimbaits, 4-7inch long and usually articulated for more realistic action as you move the bait past a hungry Behemoth. This technique is pretty unique and requires a bit of knowledge to fish effectively, Grant has not only mastered this technique but he is also prepared to share his knowledge with you so you can catch Lunkers like his on your own. The reward is well worth the time, just check the pictures above!! On the day of your trip, Grant will pick you up in his G3 Eagle 175 Bass Boat with a 70 two-stroke Yamaha strapped to the back and equipped with Minn Kota Trolling motor on the front. This boat provides a comfortable ride out to Grant's favorite spots and can get super skinny and stealthy once he drops that trolling motor in the water as well. Mid-day heat is when Grant usually has the best success with big fish, so depending on when you'd like to get out on the water, Grant is usually willing to accommodate you. He will provide all the necessary rods, reels, tackle, gear, and of course swimbaits for your trip. He will also bring along a cooler with waters and ice aplenty for any other drinks or snacks you'd like to bring along. So if you're looking to catch the bass of a lifetime get out there with the master and learn from the best in the business! Read More

What types of largemouth bass fishing trips are common in Texas?

The most common fishing techniques in Texas are light tackle fishing, artificial lure fishing, and sight casting but live bait fishing and topwater fishing are popular as well.

Is booking a fishing guide worth the money?

Hiring a guide provides a number of benefits and many choose to book a fishing guide for a combination of experience, local knowledge, convenience, and cost-effectiveness.

Working with experienced fishing guides who know the best local spots and techniques can dramatically increase your odds of a great day. Having someone who is on the water every day and knows the area like the back of their hand is going to give you the best chances of success.

Booking a guide is also more cost effective, especially if you only get out a handful of times per year. When you consider all of the costs you would incur on your own such as the price of a boat, maintenance, insurance, gas, high-quality gear and tackle, repairs, and more, you’ll find that DIY is sometimes not worth the expense.

Even if you’ve got a great setup already in your home waters, booking a guide also provides a great opportunity to experience new techniques, new locations, or even a chance at a new target species to knock off the bucket list.

What month is best for largemouth bass fishing in Texas?

The most popular season for largemouth bass fishing in Texas is spring, and most anglers book their trips 21 days in advance.

110% book this guy if your ever in the Austin area. This guide knows his stuff. Myself and a couple of teenagers were on fish quick and the catching lasted the entire trip. He knows the spots and the baits. Complete professional when it comes to accommodating and encouraging guests. We fished Lady Bird Lake and easily caught 40 fish in a morning trip. Most of the fish were heavy, no dinks. Step out of a downtown high rise, onto a boat deck, at Lady Bird and slay them with this guy or hit a surrounding Austin area lake if that’s your thing.

We had a great float trip! Our guides, Cody and Mitch were fantastic!! They were very knowledgeable of the river how to get us on fish. We had a beginner that had never fly fish before and Cody and Mitch were very patient with teaching him how to cast and catch fish on a fly rod. I would highly recommend these guys for fishing on the Brazos!

We had a great experience with Captain Kevin. He has a great rig, great personality and put us on enough Large Mouth to please me. I took my 10 year old son because he said he wanted to catch a large mouth. Kevin came through with an extra life jacket too (I forgot one for my son). One hiccup was we were going to meet at different lake but they closed it due to the horrible drought we are in. Kevin audibled and we meet at Lake Bastrop which was more convenient for me anyway. I would definitely recommend this easy to use app and would definitely hire Captain Kevin again. He had everything we needed and got us catching fish quickly. He is really good with kids too!
