What types of channel catfish fishing trips are common?

Lake fishing is the most popular type of fishing for channel catfish as well as river fishing, inshore fishing, and nearshore fishing.

The most common fishing techniques are light tackle fishing, artificial lure fishing, and drift fishing but bottom fishing and cut bait fishing are popular as well.

How much does a channel catfish fishing trip cost?

Prices for channel catfish can range anywhere from about $400 to $1,800, but the average price for a half day trip for channel catfish is $618. The average price for a full day trip for channel catfish is $1,140.

Is booking a fishing guide worth the money?

Hiring a guide provides a number of benefits and many choose to book a fishing guide for a combination of experience, local knowledge, convenience, and cost-effectiveness.

Working with experienced fishing guides who know the best local spots and techniques can dramatically increase your odds of a great day. Having someone who is on the water every day and knows the area like the back of their hand is going to give you the best chances of success.

Booking a guide is also more cost effective, especially if you only get out a handful of times per year. When you consider all of the costs you would incur on your own such as the price of a boat, maintenance, insurance, gas, high-quality gear and tackle, repairs, and more, you’ll find that DIY is sometimes not worth the expense.

Even if you’ve got a great setup already in your home waters, booking a guide also provides a great opportunity to experience new techniques, new locations, or even a chance at a new target species to knock off the bucket list.

What month is best for channel catfish fishing?

The most popular season for channel catfish fishing is spring, and most anglers book their trips 24 days in advance.

Do I need a fishing license for channel catfish and what are the bag limits for channel catfish?

Absolute blast with Captain Steve! We went a few miles offshore and fished for Goliath grouper. Caught several in the 30-50 lb range, one 85+ lb, one 185+ lb, and hooked a world class Goliath Grouper but ended up breaking the line on structure! Couldn’t recommend a better guide to go out and land some huge fish. We will definitely head out with Steve again when we come back to town, highly recommend!

The best fishing experience for large crappie we have had. He got us to the big crappie. We did not have one under the length limiti almost all were 14 inches and we had a 2.48 lbs and a 2.28 lbs fish. We limited out by 10 am

Richard was super friendly and full of knowledge! He had great tips to better refine, (or learn how to) use baitcaster reels. The morning started out pretty slow, but we did end up catching a few smaller guys after the water warmed up. We will definitely go out with Richard again!
