trip description for Port A Offshore Super Slam in Port Aransas

If a line-peeling, drag-screaming offshore trip is what you're after, you're in the right place! Captain Scott is a pro when it comes to offshore fishing in Port Aransas, Texas, and he loves to show clients what's out there in the deep blue. On an offshore charter with Captain Scott, you'll hunt down a variety of sportfish species, including Mahi-Mahi, Tuna, and Wahoo—all terrific fighting fish that are great to eat as well. Because these fish love to hit fast-moving lures and bait, you'll focus on trolling at different depths in order to attract bites. When a big Mahi or Wahoo takes the hook, strap in for a fight! These are lightning-fast pelagic fish that do not want to get caught, and getting one over the rail is a challenge. You'll fight the fish from Captain Scott's 42' Hatteras sportfisher, a perfect vessel for offshore fishing. She features a comfortable cabin when you want to get out of the sun, plus a big deck with tons of room for reeling in a trophy! Captain Scott will provide everything you need for an epic trip, including rods, reels, baits, and tackle. We recommend that you bring proper clothing, a hat, sunscreen, and a cooler with some snacks and drinks. Get out there and hook a personal best! Read More

What types of amberjack fishing charters are common in Texas?

Deep Sea fishing is the most popular type of fishing for amberjack in Texas as well as nearshore fishing, inshore fishing, and flats fishing.

The most common fishing techniques in Texas are bottom fishing, trolling, and heavy tackle fishing but jigging and light tackle fishing are popular as well.

Is booking a fishing guide worth the money?

Hiring a guide provides a number of benefits and many choose to book a fishing guide for a combination of experience, local knowledge, convenience, and cost-effectiveness.

Working with experienced fishing guides who know the best local spots and techniques can dramatically increase your odds of a great day. Having someone who is on the water every day and knows the area like the back of their hand is going to give you the best chances of success.

Booking a guide is also more cost effective, especially if you only get out a handful of times per year. When you consider all of the costs you would incur on your own such as the price of a boat, maintenance, insurance, gas, high-quality gear and tackle, repairs, and more, you’ll find that DIY is sometimes not worth the expense.

Even if you’ve got a great setup already in your home waters, booking a guide also provides a great opportunity to experience new techniques, new locations, or even a chance at a new target species to knock off the bucket list.

First off Danny communicated well about where to be and what time the day before our excursion. Once we got started it was clear that he was very knowledgeable and knew where to go to maximize our fishing efforts. Him and his deck hand made sure that our family of 4 always had a baited pole in our hands and were ready to grab any fish that we caught! We would absolutely go fishing with Danny again!

I hate reviews that don’t give you all the info you need. Emilio and his crew hand did a great job they brought us to a few spot that put us on 5-10 fish at a time the boat got us where we needed to go 5-10 miles out from the docks the squid bate was decent the rods were all usable there was a restroom on board In all especially for the price I would definitely take this charter again during the summer!!! Timing matters when fishing!

We did not have a good experience. The seas were very rough, we got sea sick, completely drenched and my husband fell out of his wheelchair when the boat hit a big wave at about mile 13 or 14. He was stayed seated on the floor of the boat as we attempted to continue out. After about 1.5 hours, we were less than 20 miles out, we decided to ask the captain to turn around.

Great trip with James (AKA Grandpa) seas were a little rough but that's too be expected. Had a Member of our group get very ill and not only was James's first thought his safety but we cut our trip short and he even discounted the fees. Very thankful and will use them again. I can't put the review in and not mention Daryl, his mate, as well. To notch crew!!

Captain Emilio and his first mate(I apologize for not remembering your name), were wonderful. They visited with us before departure. We were at the end of Red Snapper season, but hey, we got our limit. Plus mackerel and Bonita. Captain Emilio did an excellent job getting us to the perfect location. I will say, taking the grandchildren (9& 4 years of age), the first mate did an outstanding job teaching the curious 9/year old. She learned a lot, as did I. I’m so glad we held off deep sea fishing until we were at South Padre(the other option was in Corpus), nope this was my favorite. I would tell anyone to make an 8-hr trip, and then scale back if needed. We had our quota of Red Snapper and continued to troll for the next hour or so. I would definitely recommend Captain Emilio !!!
