trip description for High Plains Wings Wack in Amarillo

There are plenty of great duck and goose hunting opportunities throughout the state of Texas, but Amarillo is in a class all by itself. Hosting a wide variety of duck and geese species, the area allows us the ability to hunt with beginners, as well as the most seasoned hunter. With our land leases, we have access to tens of thousands of acres allowing us to hand-select the best fields for each and every hunt. This process ensures we are hitting the right spots on the right days where large flocks of ducks and geese are feeding. Like our motto says, all you have to do is, “Show up and hunt” and our guides will do the rest. We currently have a maximum of 12 hunters per trip, but feel free to contact us if you have a larger party. Book Now! Limited spots in our Amarillo Texas location, our season runs November 1 through January 30 each year. Every hunter has been there and done that. It is our duty to continue to keep our clients, team, and partners safe at all times. We will require that every hunter, experienced or not, have the proper licensing, required education (if applicable) and state/federal stamps. We do a basic safety overview and evaluation prior to each hunt, if you are new to hunting, don’t worry! We will ensure you are up to speed with safety prior to departure. To hunt with us you will need to purchase a Texas hunting license as well as a federal duck stamp, a Sandhill crane stamp and a migratory bird stamp. Client dogs are allowed, but dogs must be steady enough to shoot. If your dog breaks we will ask you to tether it and release them after the shot. *We recommend a minimum of 2 days to maximize the experience. Read More

trip description for DIY Duck Hunt in Port Aransas

This is an absolute Do It Yourself hunt for the experienced duck hunter who doesn't need help killing ducks! Captain Mark will ferry you're group out to an island or a duck blind out in the bay and run back to the dock to wait for ya'll to text him when you're done. Captain Mark reccomends--and most every duck hunter will agree--that you should bring your own decoy spread and duck calls to hunt over. Once Captain Mark drops you off you'll set out your decoys, brush yourself in or bring your own blind, and if you're experienced enough to handle it, blast ducks until you hit your limit. Even though Captain Mark won't be there in the blind with you, he spends all his time on the bays and knows the best spots to drop you off where ducks are flying! Read More

Hunting in Abilene
trip description for 2 Day+ Duck Adventure with Lodging in Abilene

*Lodging and Meals Included* Optionally add on one of Cash's crane, hog, or dove listings to maximize your stay! We typically hunt the North West Texas area of the Rolling Plains flyway. What makes our duck hunting so special is that there are no Federal Wild Life Refugees located in our very own Central flyway from Canada to Texas. We feel this make a positive impact on the number of ducks available each season in our managed hunting areas. One of the biggest differences with our guided duck hunts is the annual Mallard Duck Migration we see happen each season over the entire North West Texas region. The Mallard Migration occurs around the middle of November and generally lasts until the first substantial freezing weather event. When this migration occurs, there are huge numbers of Mallard Ducks on nearly every spot of water that our managed properties hold. Limit duck hunting happens very quickly when these conditions occur and the fun factor is high. The majority of our duck hunts occur over managed stock tanks/ponds. We manage these locations to make sure they are not over hunted or pressured. This is why some of our duck hunts occur anywhere over a seven county area of North West Texas. Our guide network is always scouting for bird concentrations all season long. We maintain year long conservation programs on all our managed hunting properties. This is done to ensure your group a great outdoor experience. Several of our hunting guides are full time ranchers and farmers that work the very land we hunt on. Who is better to know where the game is, than a guy running farm equipment all year long and managing the land, conservation and livestock. While the area’s we hunt are a solid distance from all major cities. We feel the remoteness and rural feel of this North West Texas location, combined with its agricultural focus, make this a great area to build life long memories of good times in the field hunting Ducks. Lodging- Meals Schedule, for a typical weekend two day guided hunting package we provide one meal (Dinner) upon arrival Friday Evening and three meals Saturday (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner) and one meal Sunday (Breakfast) for a total of five meals per person. We hunt Saturday & Sunday Morning with guest departure after the hunt is completed by Sunday early afternoon. Generally until limits are achieved or at 12 Noon on Sunday. (This will vary based off of the duration of your stay, but you will be well fed!) THE LODGE Sleeps up to 12 The lodge, purchased in 2010, has been fully refurbished and out fitted for modern living since the building's humble beginnings as a Methodist Church. The expansive main room features game tables, flat screen TV and full kitchen, perfect for private parties & receptions. The ground floor features laundry and two full bathrooms for men & women, including rain shower heads and multiple stalls. Downstairs, you'll find five individual bedrooms with bunk beds, twin beds and queen beds, depending on the room. THE COOKHOUSE Sleeps up to 6 Located just across the street from the Lodge, the Cookhouse is a smaller building that boasts a gourmet kitchen including two ovens, two refrigerators and a standing freezer. The main room is lined with tables to accommodate the hunters and cowboys who gather to dine here three times a day. There are three bedrooms and two bathrooms located in the cookhouse, making it perfect for a small hunting party. A comfortable living room area is completed with a flat screen TV for your viewing pleasure. The main bedroom features a message chair and private bathroom. Read More

Is booking a hunting guide worth the money?

Hiring a guide provides a number of benefits and many choose to book a hunting guide for a combination of experience, local knowledge, convenience, and cost-effectiveness.

Working with experienced hunting guides who know the best local spots and techniques can dramatically increase your odds of a great day. Having someone who is outside every day and knows the area like the back of their hand is going to give you the best chances of success.

Booking a guide is also more cost effective, especially if you only get out a handful of times per year. When you consider all of the costs you would incur on your own such as the price of a boat, maintenance, insurance, gas, high-quality gear, repairs, and more, you’ll find that DIY is sometimes not worth the expense.

Even if you’ve got a great setup already in your backyard, booking a guide also provides a great opportunity to experience new techniques, new locations, or even a chance at a new target species to knock off the bucket list.

The team was excellent and we had an hugely successful hunt. My husband and I booked this to celebrate our anniversary and although my husband has hunted a lot, this was my first time. The location we were taken to was great, the decoys and the blind were set up perfectly, and our guide (Jesse) was an EXCELLENT caller! NOTE: we were paired with two other hunters (which we were not expecting - and was not communicated beforehand) and although it worked out fine, just something to be aware of.

Trey makes it extremely straightforward for you to get out there. Even on a self-guided trip the decoys are already set up, the blind is brushed, and the Trey is waiting at the ramp in the boat to take you to the blind and pick you up at the end of your hunt. Couldn’t be easier.

Attison B. with Trey C. of Port Aransas, Texas

Outstanding hunt with a knowledgeable guide! I highly recommend Andy for your next Texas duck hunt!

Christopher M. with Andrew S. of College Station, Texas

  • ★★★★★
I HIGHLY recommend Captain Andy for his excellent guiding skills and can-do attitude. Unlike many other Guides, he works with a network of other spotters who watch for birds all across the state. He left his home at midnight and arrived at our shooting location at 1 AM to make sure other eager hunters wouldn't grab his spot. The result was an excellent hunt of mixed bag ducks, sprinkled with humor and education about wingspotting. Five stars is not enough for this Coast Guard certified gent.

Brooks B. with Andrew S. of College Station, Texas

  • ★★★★★
Brian did an amazing job. Hunt was smooth and had a great time. Will be back for sure!

Tyler V. with Brian P. of Aransas Pass, Texas

Gus is friendly and knows his stuff. Shot a limit and even got a red fish out of the decoys

Steven L. with Gus M. of Laguna Vista, Texas

Just absolutely amazing! From start to finish, Terry and his crew knew exactly what to do! Highly recommend, and I will for sure be back!
