Captain John is located at the exciting Bayside Marketplace and Marina right in the heart of downtown Miami and just 5 minutes away from South Beach (just over MacArthur Causeway). Fish the Waters of Miami and Key Biscayne for some of the world's most prized sport fish! These trips are fantastic because there is only a short run to the fishing grounds. The water gets deep two miles offshore as you pass South Beach and Key Biscayne just off Miami. This means that you can still expect to chase down Sailfish, Kingfish, Blackfin Tuna, and other species on a short trip. The boat offers all types of tackle, from ultra-light to monster tackle. Everything is supplied for your trip except catering (beverages and/or food). Catering is easily arranged when you place your reservation. The boat features a fighting chair, rocket launcher, outriggers, and a large bait well. For your comfort in the air-conditioned saloon, there is a 32" flat-screen TV, stereo, comfortable seating with head and galley, and stateroom down. Your guide, Captain John, has been fishing the local and Bahamian waters for over thirty years, and he will ensure you have a pleasant trip. It takes around 15 minutes to reach the ocean from Captain Maurice's dock and most of the fish you'll catch are within two miles offshore. Miami's warm Gulf Stream waters produce fish all year round, including Sailfish, Wahoo, Dolphin, Kingfish, Tuna, Amberjack, Barracuda and Sharks. Miami is unique because you don't have to commit to a full day adventure to chase after these big pelagic species, and though you may have better chances at bigger fish on longer adventures, the possibility (for big fish) is always there on the 4 hour as well! In our half day trips depending on time of year or target species. We will troll, live bait, bottom fish, shark fish, or Kite fish. We will usually stay within 2 miles of the beach where most of the bait fish and bottom fish are. Deep Dropping is definitely the method of choice if you are looking to put meat in the box! Deep dropping is a newer style of fishing and the fishing grounds are still pristine. So head way offshore with Captain Tyler to drop cut baits down hundreds of feet to hook into some delicious bottom fish like Tilefish, Warsaw Grouper, Wreck Fish, and others! Be prepared for a long boat ride out to the fishing grounds as these deep drop shelves are usually miles offshore.
