Evening Surf Fishing For Sharks
Growing up in a ranching family that has been in the Victoria, Texas area since the 1870s, James F. Welder developed early on a deep appreciation for the land and wildlife. His passion for fishing the Gulf coast comes from spending weekends and summers in Rockport, Texas. There he began crafting his fishing skills at age 4 with his father, along the San Antonio Bay system south to Lower Laguna Madre. After attending Southwest Texas University, James obtained his Captain's license in 2005 to share his knowledge and experience on the water with others. In addition to conventional fishing, James has been an avid fly fisherman for 15 years. He has spent time in the Bahamas learning new techniques for fly casting, which he can pass along to fly-fishing clients at any level. His knack for teaching first timers with his carefree, relaxed attitude will make learning to fish a memorable and rewarding experience. Capt. James has been guiding since 2005 and has grown up fishing the Port Aransas and Rockport areas all his life. We will be fishing primarily for Redfish, Trout, Flounder and Black Drum. He uses a wide variety of techniques in order for his clients to have great day on the water. He runs a 25’ Majek Illusion. Kids are more than welcome. Read More

Recent Reviews of Captain Experiences
Very satisfied with the trip we did with Mark. He was very knowledge and worked hard to get us in the fish. Very personable with a great attitude, and the supplied gear worked great. Would not hesitate to book with him again!!!
Jason H. with Mark M. of Houston, Texas
Captain Alana was awesome! Very professional, had the boat clean and gear ready to go as soon as we got to the dock we were off. Boat was good size had plenty of room for everyone to walk around. Even took us close to the launch site to see the Space X Starship. She was constantly on the phone with other guides trying to find the best bite possible. We caught Speckled Trout, large Catfish and saw a bunch of large red drums but even hitting them in the head with the bait they wouldn't bite... Had a weather change and rockets going off in the area so may have had something to do with it. But we were the only boat that day really catching anything. I would highly recommend Captain Alana. Will decently book her for future visits to go Tarpon Fishing!!!
Bret S. with Alana S. of Port Isabel, Texas

Captain Corey was absolutely amazing! We had fun caught several red fish, he is the best with kids big and small. We will back in the near future to fish with Captain Corey again.
Andrea H. with Corey B. of Galveston, Texas
Capt Cory put us on fish!!! Although the action started out slow, Capt Cory worked until he found fish. Once found, the action was non-stop and very chaotic at times, which gets the heart pumping and makes you realize you are alive. As chaotic & exciting as is was, we never lost a single fish that was brought to the boat. Two thumbs up to Capt Cory for providing this father&son a fishing trip to remember. 5 STAR CAPTAIN
