Get to know the calmer side of the Outer Banks with Captain Ricky on this fun, educational, and family-friendly fishing trip. You will start off the trip by either trolling for Spanish Mackerel and Bluefish, or bottomfishing for Flounder, Sea Mullet, Croakers, Spots, and Spotted Seatrout. Captain Ricky's mission is to make sure everyone has a fun, memorable trip without getting sea sick! If he thinks that it's too choppy, he'll take you back into Pamlico Sound where the waters are calmer....Read More
During the second half of the trip, Captain Ricky will take you crabbing! This is a very interactive part of the trip. He always has a load of Blue Crab traps set and baited from the day before, so that the crabs have had time to find their way into the traps. You will get to pull the trap, shake out the crabs and fish, re-bait the traps and reset them and then sort through the catch! The whole catch is yours to keep and eat. This is a great trip for all ages—particularly kids.
You'll be spending the day aboard a comfortable 42' Guthrie sportfisher with plenty of space to lounge and hang around with your family and friends, a shade top to keep you out of the sun, and even a bathroom. This versatile boat is perfect for fishing the different conditions around Hatteras, including inshore and offshore trips. Aboard, Captain Ricky has three fish finders, four GPS’s, two VHF radios, radar, and Sirus XM radio so that you can listen to your favorite genre of music while fishing.
Captain Ricky will provide everything you need for a perfect day on the water, including rods, reels, bait, and tackle. His goal is for everyone to have a blast and to catch a bunch of fish! Remember to bring proper clothing, a hat, and sunscreen.
Captain Rick was born in 1960 and has been a full-time fisherman since the age of 15—fishing both commercially and charter. He has fished the Bahamas, Florida, and up and down the coast of North Carolina. He fished for numerous years out of Oregon Inlet and has fished as a mate for numerous years for some sport fishing pioneers like Buddy Cannady, John Bayliss, and Tony Tillett....Read More
He now runs his charter operation out of Hatteras at Teach’s Lair. Rick has been running his charter as a captain since 1978 and helped pioneer the Tarpon fishing in Pamlico Sound, NC.
